Hey all, I just bought a used 2001 Pontiac GT today and found this forum on yahoo search. I do have the famous no Overdrive but I will search the forums for that. I'm 37 and live in Kansas.
 


Thanks fivefinger, I want to drive the car on the highway without 3.3k rpms. I'll probably get it looked at tomorrow at the tranny shop and coded.
 
Yeah, pretty much the splines on the 4th gear shaft are gone, and you'll need to have a new one put in. But now there is metal in the fluid and spread all over the transmission, so if it was me, I'd just get it rebuilt or find a used trans when your dies.
