Om so I found a new set of tails, only thing is they are from a 1999 Grand prix SE? Will those fit a 2000 GT? They look different...

Had a friend tint them today and they turned out like hell!!!! They are blotchy, no shine and too dark!

You could sand the tint off the ones you have, then polish and clear coat them. It would be pretty much the same process as headlight restoration kits, just with more sanding required.

I second this. Get some 1500 sand paper and wet sand your tails. You can start with a rougher grit if you wish but you will finish with 1500-2000 grit. You can go the whole way to clear if you want. Then get some rubbing compound and a buffer. They will look like new.

Then retint if you want to.

they make some stuff in a spray bottle that you can get at home depot/lowes/etc. that takes off paint. it is called 'graffiti remover'. i used it to take tint off my tails that im going to be modding for the scoob. the previous owner of them did an absolutely horrible job.

I guess I will try some of this stuff and work on removing the tint! I'd like to retint them because I'm sure with all the scratches that would look best. I'm just gonna have to find a way to send them to Flip! Or find a local member that's good at it!

Have patience Nikki.... Then they'll be looking good. :) That isn't as bad as I originally thought.. The other pic I saw it looked really dark. How many coats of tint did your friend use on those anyway?

If you sand them correctly and then have them buffed. There will be no more scratches. They should look like glass if done right.

Yeah, just sand em, you might have to add another coat, but if you do it right, they won't need to be stripped. Make sure to get some nice high gloss clear on top and buff em and wax em and tada, you have smexy tails.
