• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

New old noob finally stopped lurking

Just saying howdy for the moment. I'll be asking a ton of questions over the next few weeks/months as I prepare to start modding my 40th ed. 2dr GTP.

It's my 2nd L67 powered car, I had an 02 regal GS J.A. ed. that got rearended and totalled back in 09. It's also my 3rd GP. I've had a 96 4dr (le barf) and an 07 SE (great car I regret selling).

If you look closely enough at my sig/avatar you'll see my other baby. 1970 Skylark, 455 BBB that's not stock (540 hp 560 lb/ft on engine dyno). It's my 2nd skylark (first car was a 67 2dr sedan with a 340), and 3rd old school "muscle" car (also had a 72 satellite sebring with a 318 /gasp and the tiniest 2bl carb ever!). I've had the '70 for 13 years, since I was a wee young devil dog.

Look forward to picking y'all's brains to develop a plan for the purple thingy.

If you search for my username on youtube you'll find my channel, you can take a look at various videos of my skylark and my guns (another expensive hobby of mine!). Ignore the videogame footage (that's the cheap hobby!)

I cant seem to get my signature working, oh well!

I have an FNX-45. 15+1 in .45 acp, all the handgun i need!

I don't own all of the firearms I shoot in those videos. I have the VEPR-12 and M1A in the Troy chassis. The range I go to has a lot of cool people who are willing to give others a turn with their firearms.

SomeBeach... pretty cool stuff. I had a 40th GTP coupe, flipped it and have the 99s now. Had a 70 Skylark Custom HT, red. Have a 455 (Pontiac though, of course) in a 69 GP. Have one .45 and one Polytech M-14S. Great minds... have similar tastes I reckon.

Welcome aboard, man! Did a teardown on my 40th before scrapping, holler if you need any 40th coupe-specific interior stuff.

Since you have the Buick to feed your need, I wouldn't do much on the 40th other than make it so you like looking at it. Thats my approach and I like things that go bang lol. FWIW, never expect that GTP to hang curves like your full frame honey there does. They will lift a rear wheel if you yank the steering, then its over.

I was always under the impression that the W-bodies were fairly strong at the twisties... especially with all the wide-track touting they did back in the day. If an old a-body can out handle one that's pretty painful! That said, I DO have the full hotchkis suspension on the skylark, which is supposed to make them handle really nicely, big difference I noticed is that it no longer sways like a boat and going over speed bumps or even rough roads hurts now, lol.. damned racing suspensions.

The most I'm looking at doing to the GTP currently is the mods that *can* increase gas mileage: intake, rockers, headers, pcm tune, and figured since I have a blow off valve, as long as I stay out of it a smaller pulley wouldn't affect my mileage unless I got into it. The skylark gets 9mpg in city driving, driven gently. 12 on the highway if I keep it under 60... lol

Lol, for some reason I had a brain fart and put EB edition for my old regal, reading another thread reminded me it was an aboud, EB is ford! /facepalm

in my opinion, I don't know why any calibers were invented after the .45, at least in handgun calibers.

Its a weight transfer thing I guess, on the cornering. Given the IRS and FWD, the situation once control is lost is very different from what the Lark will throw at you if pushed too hard. Not only that, but its extremely easy to knock any corner of the suspension out of whack in a GTP compared to an A body if you bump something. One can't steer with the gas pedal on a FWD but a RWD sure can! My experience is all in driving warmed over stock junk though, you have the top notch soup-o-the-day parts on the big one.

Just my opinion, but consider the ballistics and construction of the two... or find a curvy road and try hanging with any random fullsize truck who lives at the other end of it. Theres not enough tire, nor room for much improvement. Now if you could put 11" wide rears and 9" fronts (tires) on a GTP, well it still wouldn't have that axle housing and gears holding down the rear. Part of the time I had my Skylark I ran the OE 14s and yes it handled like a GTP lol.

Have fun playing with the L67 it seems to be fairly rewarding once you get the hang of it, which I haven't. Just keep in mind that although it doesn't sound right, any mods and / or rarity of 40th GTP coupes add zero value, sale or insurance. Mods can drive sale price down, and heaven forbid if insurance pays you for it KBB is bible. Fair warning on that, these cars are hardly worth moped money. But theres fun to be had while all is well. Enjoy.

semi-auto, it's basically a .45 acp magnum. almost twice the FPS. If you're bored check it out on youtube. It's about as powerful as a 44 magnum.
