How is it going all?

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.1L SE with around 105,000 miles on it. A recently added car to my inventory and I have already added some nice interior upgrades and some 16" rims :D I am about to start on a couple mods for my car (engine and exhaust wise) and I will definitely be needing some opinions!

Ahoy badgerdude. Gettin' on up there in terms of a 3.1's lower intake manifold gasket. Good thing to start researching.

hey bud! welcome. i too have a 3.1.
get an intake. get some bigger exhaust manifolds off a car with a 3500 engine and a downpipe. maybe even a bigger throttle body too. i think milzymotorsports.com offers a tuned PCM.

Nice to see posts already! :D

When does that lower intake gasket usually go? I have seen quite a few people post about that...

As far as upgrades, I am making my own intake with a k n cone filter, I am changing plugs to irridium ones and also Taylor street thunder 8mm wires. Also, I am replacing my stock throttle body with a 3400 series one. It will give me another 4mm of intake for the T.B.. Any other suggestions? The exhausts manifolds have been recommended a couple times by friends, but that will come as more of a summer project.

Any other problems I could be encountering soon normal wear and tear wise? And what about with my mods, any pre/post installation problems?

Pics will come soon!

Thanks again for the early replies!

The lower intake manifold gasket on 3.1's and 3.4's seems to last mmmmaybe 150,000 miles. The gasket starts letting coolant into the oil and there will be a sweet smell in the exhaust. It means you'll see disappearing coolant, and the oil will turn into a milkshake. The engine holds 4.5 quarts of oil, and I just drained 10 quarts out of a friend's 3400 with 154,000 miles on it - way too far gone. Just keep an eye on things and you'll be fine.
