• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Just registered, been lurking for a few weeks now. Just picked up a 2000 Prix GTP. Working out some issues. Stomping grounds are Southeastern Michigan.

:th_sign-welcome1:

What sort of problems are you having? maybe we can give some direction to fix it.

Thanks for the replys guys! Im fighting a P0102 code. Ive done all the basics and seem to think its got to do with this intake oil leak i have. Or its the o2 sensor wiring. Gonna run upto the shop and put her on the lift and see what I can come up.

Ill get some pics too!

P0102 OBD-II Trouble Code

Technical Description

Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low Input
What does that mean?

Basically this means that there is a problem with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or circuit. A more technical description would be that the MAF circuit had lower than expected voltage (air flow). Other MAF sensor circuit DTC trouble codes are P0100, P0101, P0103, and P0104.
Symptoms

You will likely not notice any serious drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a general decrease in power or sluggishness.
Causes

A code P0102 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • The MAF may be disconnected, or a wiring connection may be bad
  • The MAF may be dirty or otherwise contaminated (Note: if you use a reusable oiled air filter, be careful not to apply too much oil or that can contaminate the MAF).
  • The MAF sensor may be faulty
  • The vehicle computer may be faulty (very rare)
Possible Solutions

The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. Then start with the cheapest, easiest repair procedures:

  • Verify that the Mass Air Flow Sensor wiring is connected properly and that there are no broken / frayed wires.
  • Inspect for any air leaks near the MAF sensor.
  • Take the MAF out and clean it using a spray cleaner such as brake cleaner or electrical contact cleaner. Be gentle with the sensor.
  • Check the voltage of the MAF sensor (refer to a repair manual for vehicle specific information)
  • Replace the MAF sensor.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated!! Problem solved. MAF bad. Also had some crappy wires and a few cracked clips. Repaired them all, solder and shrink tube, the only way right. So now onto complete top end gasket replacement, a little porting here and there. Should be good after that.

1ATony, heres a quick pic.

If your replacing gaskets in the upper end you will want to consider replacing the LIM (Lower Intake Manifold) Gaskets as well. Factory GM Gaskets were plastic with rubber seals, they give out and cause problems over time. Replace them with the Felpro "Problem Solver" Gasket set (MS 98014 T) make sure you get ones with the T in it, they will be metal with rubber seals and much MUCH better quality.

Also Felpro or AcDelco supercharger gaskets, Garlocks are commonly referred to as Garleaks, again quality items recommended.
