New MAF sensor, now stalling?

Profane

I replaced my MAF sensor last Thursday after having a friend scan the check engine light. It came back low voltage on the input sensor I believe. I replaced it, and the car was running fine till today. I was on the freeway driving between 50-55 and the RPM's would go up, not much, but enough to notice. It almost seemed like it was in overdrive, then decided not to be. Thank fully I was in the slow lane, because the car stalled. Put it in park, tried starting but it only sputtered. Tried it a few more times, then the last time I tried, it ran for about 10 seconds, then quit. I called a tow truck, and during the hour and a half it took for them drive two miles from their HQ to where I was, the car decided it wanted to start again. It will start and drive now, but for how long, I have no clue.

Any tips? I called Autozone (D'oh!) where I bought the MAF and they told me to drive it there and they'll test it ON the car. The guy also said its not the MAF because of the RPM thing (when the mech who spotted the sensor issue told me that the RPM fluctuation can be caused by the MAF). I know better than to trust an Autozone employee. In short, theres no way in hell I'm driving it to autozone, because A.) They're morons and B.) I dont even know If I'll make it.

Also, mechanic friend is out of town, so he cannot diag.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well I work at Autozone...thanks for that.

Also...if you paid to have a tow truck come, I'm sorry...should have just unplugged the MAF to see if that was the real culprit. If your RPM's are bouncing it sounds like a CPS. But since I'm a moron; I can't diagnose anything for you.

Also, I should mention that the RPM fluctuation and stalling came right as the car reached normal operating temperature.

Well, maybe you're not. But, the autozone is in the Hispanic side of town, and they dont speak English very well, so half of what they've sold me was incorrect.

And I work in the rainforest, no offense, but I can swing from branch to branch better than all of you. I also get paid in sex.

But really, unplug the damn maf sensor like suggested above and see if your problem gets better or worse. Also check to make sure it is the correct maf sensor, they changed throughout the years. Hold them up next to eachother and see if there are any differences in shape/size of the inlet portion.

Also make sure it's not your TPS sensor and not the maf that were talking about.
