• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

New HU, no sound while running.

I just purchased a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X695, GMOS-04, and a SWI-JACK.

Took off the neg batter terminal, took out the old HU, installed everything, turned car on in accessory mode, programed SWI, everything seemed ok, even tested the onstar/door chimes. Then I turned the car on and...no sound, the HU is still lit up, says it's playing the cd/playing radio etc. but no sound, door chimes still work, onstar still works. but no sound from the radio.

I have a 06 Grand Prix GXP with the ****soon, er monsoon, stock.

I don't know if it's related but I unhooked the HU before I came in for the night, didn't want to leave it all exposed outside, and my interior lights wouldn't shut off, had to unhook the battery.

Everything was working perfectly before I started.

Any help would be hugely appreciated!
I'll take pictures of the wiring tomorrow if it will help!

There are two adjustments on your GMOS-4, if you play with them you might get some sound, I did the same thing in my 06 GP GT w/ Monsoon and ended up replacing everything HU amp and speakers, as the Monsoon amp is a 8 channel amp with it sending lows to woofersonly and highs to tweeters I believe the only full bandwidth channel is for the center dash speaker, as far as the lights go I haven't a clue. Would have to look at your wiring to see.

I have adjusted the sound on the GMOS, good idea though, while playing with it this morning I was able to get sound for about .5 seconds after the car is running then it just stops. still able to listen with the car in accessory mode.

Lets verify your connections

Gmos-4, 14 pin connector --radio
blue/white --amp turn on
red radio-- ignition
RCA-- RCA
these wires I did not hook up
brown --mute wire
green --parking brake(may not have if not video HU)
blu/pink --speed sense wire
green/purple-- reverse wire

swi-jack wires
black --ground
red ignition --12v
green --a7 on car connector
then you will need to run 12v to A6 on car connector, if you want steering wheel controls to work
wire to Hu with blue/yellow wire
GMOS-4 24 pin connector
yellow radio 12v battery
black radio ground
orange radio illumination
Please verify and we shall go from there

GMOS - Radio - Didn't hook up the amp wire, as I couldn't find anything to hook it to, hooked up the mute wire.

SWI- Check

GMOS 14 pin - Didn't hook up the orange, as I couldn't find an illumination wire. Otherwise, check.

You should have an amp turn on wire blue/white on your Hu harness , you will need to hook this up to make your Monsoon amp work otherwise no sound
Illumination wire is also orange

Fantastic, Thanks for the help! It works great, though I'm a little disappointed with Bluetooth quality, I will have to mess with the mic I guess.

It had something to do with having the harness hooked up w/o the HU attached, as soon as I put the HU back in this morning and closed the doors the lights went out, everything is working perfectly again!
