Had a Sony CDX-Gt330 stock speaker and a power bd1000a1 powering one 12" sub.Just replaced HU with a JVC KD-HDR20 now can barely hear the sub have to turn up the HU to 35 but don't want to listen to music that loud all the time.Had a nice boom with the Sony @ 20.The JVC doesn't have a loud function.Turned gain up a little past have but didn't help at low volumes.
Any help will be appreciated.

numbers dont mean anything.... at 20 my deck is quiet, even 35 isn't that loud.

Mine doesnt get loud till 50-60. 61 and 62 are useless because then it just starts to ruin headroom.

0-62 being the range my deck has to work with.

From what I saw, the gains should be slightly lower with your new head unit.

Have you turned the sub on and tried playing with the level, phase (polarity, even though they're not the same... i know...), crossover frequency etc?

Check to make sure theres not a SUB power level control. I had the same problam until i found that on my Alpine Deck

Does the new HU have a sub-out? or are you running it off the front or rear RCA's?
If there is a sub out, check the sub volume/level
If it doesnt have sub-outs, you will half to crank up your amp and you might wanna look into a crossover for better control of your subs.
