New headlight output HORRIBLE need help (pics)!

I have a set of black headlights like the one's you have. The light output is limited by the black on the housing. As stated the number of reflective mirrors does not matter. What I did notice is that I did a set of black headlights for my brother. He has a stock set that was painted with gloss black and the light reflects better with the gloss black than the flat black one's from ebay.

Something to think about.

man, i'm glad you posted this. i'd also like to see the light output on the ground if that's possible.

and maybe one of them on the car, just to see how they look lol. sorry they turned out like sh!t

Yes, the light output on the black housing's are terrible. The black inside the housing is eating up the light rather than reflecting it. You can either
a/ throw in hids (this will be better but not great) or
b/ retrofit projectors- this is the best solution. The morimoto mini's can be purchased from here Bi-xenon: Morimoto Mini - HID Projectors from The Retrofit Source LLC

The light output with these are incredible. You will never need to use your highbeams again. It's a very easy mod. Hope this helps

But after getting the projectors what else would I do? I couln't use the 9007 bulbs single xenons which I have, I would need new wiring too?? any suggestions?

You will need D2S bulbs and the D2S socket attachment...ddmtuning has it.

I think you need to do some homework about projectors and retrofitting, especially if you don't know what kind of bulb goes in a projector

As my experience with any after market headlight I have ever come across. The reflector in the housing is never as good as the OEM one.

Pure suggestion to the OP, open both sets of headlights and swap the reflectors, its not hard to do.

And the black housing does not "eat up the light"...whatever that means

glad you posted about this I was gonna buy some. For those of you saying the light output of a GP is bad honestly I dont think its bad at all. I get more than enough lighting out of my factory ones and I have installed Silverstar Ultra headlights and fogs and im happy with em. On a side note would painting the factory headlights black on the housing get the same results? I would expect to lose some lighting as it wont be chrome but im jw.

No you shouldn't really loose any. Its the reflector from the after market vs OEM that is causing the issue.

If you really wanted better output with the lights do a relay harness and run some slightly higher wattage bulbs.

I understand the black housing MUST take off some output or why would the OEM's be chrome? But anyways the reflectors must have something to do with it, there is no way that 8 chunky reflectors equals like 100 evenly spaced OEM reflectors...But what gets me angry is that the picture of the seller shows it with the OEM reflectors! I emailed them and I'm awaiting a response. I will be posting up output pictures tonight.

i painted the inside of mine the same time i got HIDs. the output was still 8 billion times better. granted my HIDs are high beams, but that combined with the brights and foglight mod i probably look like the sun coming down the road.

even though the amount of reflectors are different, look at the size, the bigger ones make up the amount of smaller ones so in theory it would even itself out. Black housing headlights suck IMO unless they are projector headlight housings. I tried a set of black housing on my GP and the light output was ok but I liked my stock housings better so I gave the black housings back to my friend.

the reflectors are aimed and cut for specific reasons dont ya think? One long mirror would give different output rather than 100 cut up sections of that same mirror
