Hello everyone,

New Pontiac owner despite being a die hard blue oval guy. THESE THINGS ARE AWESOME! Got this 2008 GXP from a past member on here. Just happened to get on one day looking for information and found this in the Classifieds. Good find for us. We are going to be having a little one in 7 months or so and just wanted to up grade from the wifs old '01 Taurus SES to something a little more....... FUN! reliable, ect. Had to sell my '04 Lincoln LSV8 in February and miss it bad. well with out more rambling, the GXP is serviced for 60k and started on Mobil 1. I think we are going to get along great.

Off topic just see what you guys think or have done.

What are your takes on removing the flow through pipes in each tip. IE: take a dremel cutting tool and cut approx. 1.5" or so out of each tip to gain a little bit of sound with out getting into it ......deep. Anyone done this, ideas, suggestions?

Thanks
and
ENJOY!

Welcome. I'm not sure what you are saying about the tips. Can you explain that further?

if you are to look in the end of the tip on a GXP you can see that there are approx 1" steel pipes passing almost entirely through each tip. What I am pondering is that if I was to take a die grinder or dremel tool with a cutting wheel and trimmed all 4 of those 1" pipes back approx 1"-1.25". I would think that by reducing the amount of pipe passing through the tip I would increase the sound of stock exhaust by simply recreating the flow more into the tips.

Does this seam that it may work. Im not trying to "Rig" by any means but am curious as to a inexpensive "note" improver.

First road trip 200 miles all interstate. Averaged 78mph and got 23mpg. Seam right, low, any input? Looking to make it better but don't know if it worth changing for that or not. NO MODS with 62k

Would a K&N replacement be worth the 45$ its gonna cost or just accept the fact I decided to be a V8 guy and deal with it? Its a daily driver so heavy mods are not a question, just contemplating a ECM/CAI or filter change. Im sure under 75 this thing is night and day difference but my 04 LSv8 would do better than 23 running 80.

Defenitly worth it. It a quality high flow filter. Last forever too.
I have one, along with a gutted air box. Do it.
