Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

cmon guys, not new too forums just this one. this car is immaculate perfect interior and body, i know its probably a sensor, anyone got any ideas?

....relax. People aren't on here 24/7. It may take a bit more than 5 minutes for someone to respond. :) Anyway...

What brand are the replacement coils you put on? I'd start by having those checked out at any of the many parts stores that check for free in spite of being new. While you're at it, have the ignition control module checked, too. If that looks good, I would have the injectors checked out next. Those are the most common failures for what you described.

How does it not run right? Be more specific. Could be the oxygen sensor. Any codes?

no thats the thing it runs great and idles great until it warms up, doesnt get hot, just operating temp, no codes,

and sorry for being impatient, the girl is on my ass for bringin another car home, lol
she knows i will get it fixed , but im behind on her oil change

Check out the stuff I listed. I can almost guarantee it's one of those. I'm presuming this is the 3.1? If so, they're legendary for injectors going out, and in many instances, they'll display the same exact symptoms you described.

Now it just turns over and wont start, so im guessin its the coils, i did a closer look at the coils and looks like they just replaced 2, so when it warms up this weekend, i will pull them off,

I have the same problem, only when it got hot it wouldn't even crank. I swapped ecms and it cranks when warming up, but won't start. new ignition module, crank sensor, plugs, wires, i think the coilpacks are good(at least that's what the guy told me..my wife wants this car outta here and I do too, so i can get started on my camaros' 350 tbi swap yay!) but I'll check them out. Who would have guessed that the first thread in a forum that I've been a member of for about oh, 4 minutes would be so fruitful. good luck on your rig bud.

edit:okay, so do I have two crank sensors? I only found one by the firewall at the bottom backside of the block. 1990 grand prix

93Prix - Even the replaced coils may be bad, especially with the track record of lessor brands like the ones sold at Murray's, Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, etc. Have all of them checked regardless of whether they've been replaced, or not. Your symptoms can still be one or more coils, the ignition control module (don't forget to pull that off, and take it in with you to get checked when you remove the coils), or one or more injectors. The way the old MPFI system was set up, if one injector went out on either side of the rail, all 3 would stop on that side. There is a slim chance it could be your crank position sensor not sending a strong enough signal, but I would leave that as a last possibility.

Osirus - You only have one CPS.

I had a camaro that was doing the same thing, kept stalling out on me. I ran in circles around the ignition components and sensors. I think you should check the fuel pressure. there should be a shrader valve on the end of the fuel rail to connect a guage. I would also say the coils could be suspect even if new.

When it stalls does it sputter out and die, or just cutt off like you turned it off?

well got it all apart, had the module checked , said it was ok as far as the coils go they said there was no accurate way too check them, but all 3 held resistance, get this it has 3 different coils 1 oem, and 2 other off brands, thing is i dont want too spend $100 bucks on coils if thats not the problem but sounde like the problem

If there's a junkyard near you, I would snag an original GM coil off the newest car you can find. Pretty much all GMs use the same coils. Run that for a while, and see if it doesn't cure the problem. You're just going to have to rule things out one at a time like this.

Okay, so to be clear on this. a coil pack can most definitely cause this issue? How would I go about checking them? I've brought this idea up to a friend of mine, and he swears up and down that it's impossible. he is a ford guy though, so there's room to work with. I dunno, if I could just get this thing to ditch the problemo, i'd be happier for it.
