• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

New guy probably same question ...

So I picked up a 1997 Grand Prix with full knowledge that the trans would
need replacement. I'm starting to wonder if it really does. Slippage is
random. Sometimes it pulls hard and other times it acts gutless. If I get
hard on it from a stop or low speeds I do get a chatter. Not sure if its the
tires trying to gain traction or the trans.
What I'm looking for is to get pointed in the right direction not a full fresh
write up of what to do. I can only imagine its been discussed here many
times before.
I have read that my problem could be the transmission shift selenoid or
possibly the torque converter.
Any info on this topic would be very helpful.

Well a trouble code popped up today telling me that the TCC solenoid is
not operating properly and something about the TC may need to be
replaced. I'm crossing my fingers that I just have to pull the side cover
off the tranny and replace the solenoid. Should get to it next weekend.
Wish me luck :th_scratchhead:

If anybody has any suggestions on what else I should replace while I'm
in there I would appreciate it. I know I should do at least the filter.
Not sure if I should bother with the EPC, 1-2 shift, or 3-4 shift.
