Ok here goes. major gearhead. I am currently building a 05 gto with custom whipple charger. I recently bought 97 GP with 155k and it runs great. Qestions. Why not an intercooler? i seen the post someone did on an intercooler and wanted to know how that came out. Did it lower intake temps? Is this the only attempt? looks like he used an oil cooler. Also any problems with these cars? i have 3 one one with the eaton. Of course i have several screw chargers and one may go on this one. Who else has a screw on theirs? Of course traction is an issue as well as other things like torque steer. I remember someone doing a car that had both eaton and turbo and it went in the 9 sec range. any more like this? Thanks for having me. Oh and one more do the supercharged cars have forged pistons?

intercoolers are probably one of the best things you can do to the car. they are water to air units. the main bulk of them are sold by ZZP out of michigan. it will lower intake temps greatly and help with running more boost as well as timing. its just a heater core stuck in the middle of two plates.

not many people run other blowers than the stock m90 because of the cost of doing so. youd most likley need a custom intercooler/adapter plate and for all that trouble you might as well just go with a turbo setup that would make more power more easily anyway.

traction is an issue because of the FWD, but torque steer is not. if youre having torque steer problems then your suspension is not healthy anymore.

twin charged setups are not common and are also pretty expensive to put together. this would be another area where a nicely sized turbo would probably outperform it.

none of them came with forged pistons, but we dont really need them. the stock block, when detonation is kept in check, will take upwards of 600+ whp or more.

either way, you need to do a lot of researching before you start diving into your car. they are similar to work on in comparison to LSx cars, but the parts that make our cars fast are a different story.

Wow i havw never seen a 600 plus horse car that makes that power to the wheels or dyno fotr that fact without forged pistons. am i missing something? been a gear head for my 36 years of living and never heard that. bbut toour defense i have seen mostly nitrous cars melt the pistons. UnheARD OF for me but you learn everyday. thanks for info and i am a fabricator so you might see another intercooler coming. you should see my gto whipple setup i am working on. Plus i have other whipple and kenne bell units lying around as well as other bigger eatons. Who knows maybe we can help each other. The m90 is a great unit though. I have seen big horses come from these. Very nice crowd also. Thank you sir for the reply, anyone else?

If i do remember right, ZZP's TTGT is 800+ WHP on a stock block, the one time they ran nitrous they lifted a Head, but they have the world record for the world fastest FWD 3800 8.61 @158

welcome. link in my sig will give you a little more info about what some of the mods are and what you should expect to do.
