New guy from PA needs help

I've had and been around grand Prixs for a long time, that's why i had no problem recommending one for my daughter. she's home form college with a Service Engine Soon Light on. i tried to read the codes but didn't find any. is that in itself give any clue as to what needs attention? thanks in advance.
 


no running problems, she mentioned the brakes go to the floor when your sitting stopped. needed that off the bat I'd think. maybe vacuum?
 
Get in the car and pump the hell out of the brakes, then look under the car for any leaks. If there are no leaks, most likely it needs a master cylinder.
 
no leaks under the car everything seemed dry. i was under there to replace the low oil level sensor. turns out the wires were broken off. the brake fluid seems dark, i bleed it all through in the fall until it was clear.
