Hello all! I just struck up a deal on a 97' 2 door GTP last night! I know nothing about these cars but I was in need of a new daily driver and always thought these were cool cars and would make a good daily for me someday. I'm no stranger to boosted 3.8's I have been a turbo Buick owner for the past 7 years and I now have 3 turbo Buicks total. I guess I should have done my homework first before making a deal but this car is dead mint and has been a 1 owner since day one. Only 59,000 miles on the car with full service records and bone stock. I look forward to hanging around and learning about these cars. Plus I need to figure how to get some more power out of it :D -Adam

Welcome to the Forum, got pics of the 84?

I had an 85 two tone, black/greyish silver, I miss that little rocket.

The 6th gen sub forum will prolly be your best bet for your 97.( you own a 6th gen, first year of the redesign to be exact)

Thanks! I'll post some of my 84' it was burgundy before I did my resto on the car. Now it is a Mercedes silver. The car you had would have been a WH1 if it had the two tone. They are a favorite in the Buick world! Thanks for the tip I have no idea about these cars and didnt even plan on purchasing one it just fell in my lap and I could not turn it down. I look forward to learning about the car and figuring how to get some more easy power out of it. It is neat because its like a modern FWD GN in some ways.

Welcome Man, I'm here in Frederick, MD... by mid April I'll be in Germantown, MD.

If you need any help or what not let me know!

There are a few more Maryland guys on here and it's growing. We might have to have a get together sometime.

Thanks bud! Your not to far from me. That would be great, I'm still learning the series 2 SC I don't know much about the FWD 3.8's but I'm learning. That would be cool to get together with some other GTP guys. I have seen two others in my area with some tricked out ones. Later, Adam

I have HPTuners software so we can start a nice tune on your car sometime if you'd like. I just need the credits. Always nice to add vehicles to my MPVI. I'm going to be helping a guy from Baltimore sometime this week with getting his pcm straightened out.

I went to school with a few people from Westminster.

Cool! Sounds good we might just have to do that someday. I don't want to go to crazy with the car because it is my DD but I'm sure that would not be to crazy. My old DD was a LS1 Formula and I had some mild mods and a tune on that car. FBC did my tune and it wasnt cheap!

Welcome to the community.

Thanks!

Even if you have mild mods you still want a tune. these cars just run so much better with a tune whether you are stock or full blown raced out. Our cars, from my experience with mine, seem to have a decent amount of knock out of the box. A tune is going make your car healthy and save you gas. There are many more benefits as well. I wouldn't charge you to tune, because you would be driving your car and paying for the gas. I would just need money to open up your car on the software. You never know as time goes on you may want to do more and I don't mind helping if I have the time. Also if you need bigger parts put on my brother can always put them on. That would cost depending on what it is but he is very fair. I'm rebuilding a spare transmission right now so I may in the future be able to do that for some GP owners in the area.
