New Gear Shifter???

Here's the shifter, sorry bout crappy pics, took them with my droid this morning...Also mind the missing knob, and the EQ not being under the dash.

It's really comfortable, and doesnt move around at all.
 


wow i didnt know you liked playing with your shifter while you drive:th_jester:honestly just read what you just typed and tell me you dont find a dirtiness to it.

so basically you just got rid of the shift lock button? if it doesnt move around then thats what im doing. not having that button leaves me open for more possibilities.
 


Basically, once you take the shifter off, theres a small metal shaft with a yellow hard plastic shaft inside of it. When you squeeze the shifter(button) it pushes that yellow shaft down, releasing the shifter, so you can change gears.

All you have to do it manage to keep that yellow piece held down (I used electrical tape) and it's worked fine for...bout a year now....

And Bio, my stock shifter was a POS, it wiggled around, and the button would get stuck randomly.

Would this fit on my GXP right? Just unscrew the screw and pop this one on? And how does replacing the button work? Is there a cable or something that I would have to swap to the new one?

P.S PLEEEEEEASE no one buy it.....:(

It should work, you'd just have to take the boot/shifter off, and pop them on yours, shouldnt be too hard, then again, I dont know how the GXP shifter works compared to the GTP/GT
 
Damn, I can't decide if I should do it because the shifter is kinda at an angle and I'm thinkin' that the GTO shifter might look a little weird at an angle...

Anyone with an 04+ or anyone have a picture of an 04+ that has an aftermarket shifter?
