the gto isnt retro. id buy one, but i despise the IRS they come with. id rather just stick with a ws6.

I don't think some of the cars are "retro" as much as returning to their original look. Corvettes are one of the few cars that have not changed much in the 50+ years they've been made. It wasn't until '88 that GPs had four doors, but tell someone with a 4 door GP that's it not real. Granted, the 50s and 60s cars may have been aesthetically pleasing, but they weren't very aerodynamic.
