New G8 Firehawk coming...



This has already been discussed on some of the F-body forums, and i have to unfortunately agree that SLP is simply bastardizing the "Firehawk" name by placing it on the new G8. Dont get me wrong, i like the new G8, i do. But since the G8 is the "replacement" GP, wouldnt it make more sense to call it a GTX? i mean, for those that can recognize and appreciate the fear and power produced by such vehicles as the GTX or Firehawk, doesnt it seem like they are just piggy-backing off the firehawk name to boost G8 sales? what's next, a Vibe GTX?? :th_shakinghead2: this is just IMHO, but im certainly not the only one who feels this way....i would much rather have them bring back the GPs and F bods including GTX and Firehawk, but i dont wanna be a hater to the G8 owners
 
You are absolutly right. When you think Firehawk, that bad @$$ f-body comes to mind. Would be nice for it to come back out. Can kinda see Pontiacs side of it though. Like the old saying goes, kill two birds with one stone. Will it be the same, absolutly not. Will it grow on people, I'm sure as does all new cars. Not trying to defend what Pontiac is doing, it's just my thoughts on it.
 


Eh, better than nothing at all I suppose. GM's already way behind everyone else anyways. Isn't going to make a difference.

didn't work too well with the GTO though
 
i understand too, and they gotta try to make money through product marketing but this just seems like a bit of a stretch.other manufacturers are bringing back the "retro"(mustang, the next gen camaro) or even models that were thought to be retired(charger,challenger) so why not bring back the T/A or something? i dunno if GTO sales were a flop but i liked the direction they were going...

the 98-02 Trans Am WS6 is my all out dream car. I've never seen a car I think looks better. that is my opinion. I tried to get one for a few years but insurance and payments were an issue hile I'm in school. I love my Daytona edition and I'm don't feel like I settled at all, but it is cheap on insurance, low on payments, and better on gas. Perfect for school!

I get so many compliments. A guy in an STI said he could smoke my car, but it's still pretty, haha
 
Geees, what next a Geo Firebird?

That name belongs nowhere but on a Firebird. If they would like to resurrect that car, then id buy one. I wouldnt give up my GP for one but it has been a long time dream car of mine as well.
 


They could have atleast waited until the 2009 GXP G8 was released flowing a 6.2L LS3

Maybe Im getting old, maybe Im set in my ways or just too heavily influenced by the F-body, whatever it is I dont really care for the styles above. Its just too radical of a departure from what was the Firebird/Trans Am/Firehawk to me. That also, perhaps, contributes to why I dont care too much for the new Camaro, but then again, I never really cared for that vehicle to begin with.
