New car, First Kill

First off I do own a 2004 GP GT. However this story is about my wife's new 2008 G6 with the 3.5 V6. We're heading down the highway when I pull up behind this late 90's mercury couger going about 58 in a 65 so I pull into the passing lane and slowly hit the gas when I notice that this jagoff guns it. So of course I floor it and that 3.5 just pulled around him like it was nothing. I was two car lengths ahead of him when my wife yelled at me to slow down, I was going 90. As soon I let off the gas that idiot passed and kept it floored, like he was proving something. I almost feel bad for the guy because he has to drive a Ford product.

Because when you have a brand new engine the piston rings aren't going to set perfectly against the cylinder wall, and you need to give the engine some time to seal the piston rings against the cylinder walls. If you don't do that the peaks on the piston rings can remain sharp allowing excessive oil retention in the valleys, or the peaks may roll over completely causing not enough oil retention. But hey, it isn't my car, I was just saying.

Yeah, I was thinking that too, I mean if there's more than 500 miles on it they're probably set in already but if it was beat on before 500 miles, then there could be problems that haven't been noticed yet. I'm not trying to start trouble or anything here I was just simply saying I don't think it's a very smart idea to beat on a brand new car, even if it's only one time.

lol...I used to know a kid who owned a 93 Mercury Cougar that thought he was hot ****, and he used to piss me off all the time going on and on about how "it's not how fast the car is but if you have the balls to go into oncoming traffic to win a race." :th_nervous: Lucky for him mommy and daddy had a really good lawyer, so nice kill. I keep reading more and more about people in Cougars thinking they're hot **** and then failing epically.

Yeah the car had about 600 miles on it and yes I know that it is not the best thing for it but hey its a lease!

Come on guys I own a mustang and a gtp so dont be to hard on us ford guys lol

Hey what will make a ford as fast as a chevy and only costs 6.99????

A can of orange spray paint....

Figured i'd say something bad about ford since i dont think i would have to much backup talking down on the gm world lol

Our local grand prix club has a club clash at the track twice a year versus the ford thunderbird coupes and a few cougars... Last year they said it was the only year we really hit them hard, there was a cougar I believe pushing 30lbs. of boost. The cougars' chassis would twist at launch and through gears... lol. This year they are supposed to be ready for us.

Of course the t-birds were a bit slower than gtp's but there were a few of them that had good runs to show us that it can be done. We bracket race and the final race was a 11 second gtp and a low 13 second gtp.

man i wished i lived closer or wish they had something like that down here at our track:( they have ford vs. chevy but not with gtp's or cougers...it would be nice to race something defferent than mustangs and camaros lol
