Nervous....

Well today my 6yr old gets her tonsils and adenoids taken out. She is so nervous about it and so am I! I know its not a huge deal..but when you have a kid who has never really been sick and for sure has NEVER been in the hospital its scary! She didn't sleep much last night. We have to be there at 10:30 and im not sure how long it will last! Anyone else went threw this or there kids?! I still have my tonsils. Her dad don't have his but he don't remember that far back!

I have not, but I guarantee she will be ok. Consider it a good thing that you care and are nervous for your baby girl...

I had them done last month, I think i was there for three hours. I don't remember though. I was pretty loopy, and mine was outpatient.

I had mine taken out 2 years ago. It was "day surgery" so I was at the hospital for maybe 3 hours. The first week is rough. You're so damn hungry but you can't eat much... It's just like having a really bad sore throat. It supposed to be easier when you are a kid so I don't think you have much to worry about. Have lots of icecream and popsicles on hand.

My wifes little sis just had it done a month ago and she was a bit sore after ate a ssh!t load of icecream and was feeling better a week or so after

I had mine out about 2 years ago to and it was nothin...i had no pain after words...she may sound alittle horse but she will be ok...and the ice dream thing dont bother i was eating chicken when i got home that day...they do it with a lazer not a knife..

Thanks for all the feedback guys! We just got home! After surgery the doc came in and talked to us and said her adenoids was pretty bad! But she did good all and all. We got to back there and she was asleep still..she woke up and ate a popcicle but about halfway threw it she fell back asleep! They gave her morphine for the surgery and then loritab to bring home! They said today just pretty much give her the pain meds every 4-6hrs and let her sleep. She is snoozing pretty good right now and she complained once it was sore. So im hoping everything goes good and she don't hurt much.

Yeah, I think it would have been better if i was younger...i had mine done 5 days b4 my birthday, and i couldn't drink anything. so yeah, i wan't happy.

i've heard its much easier when they are younger. feed het lots of icecream and popsicles, she'll be fine!!

Ya, since we have been home she has been out! She woke up around 6 and stayed up for about 35-40min. I feel so bad keeping her doped up but the doc said its easier to keep the pain down then to stop it. She has been staying up long enough to eat a popcicle so thats good. Maybe tomorrow we can try some soup. It kinda sucks cause we are expecting to get some BAD weather or snow! I hope we just get ice because I don't want her crying wanting to go play in the snow.

heck, both of u get doped up..jk i know, my son had appendix removed just before halloween, he was hilarious on the meds.

Its amazing that after you have kids you would do anything to go through it for them, but fear not, kids are tough, bounce back fast , and will be just fine, good luck and don't worry too much!!
