Needle in a haystack baffling overheat

Have a 03 gp se, of course the 3100 motor.

Does NOT HAVE a blown head gasket, brand new thermostat, new water pump.

Motor hits 250+ in a matter of a few min on first start of the day ( ie sitting 24 hours) and then a matter of second if it's shut off for 5 min.

I'm at a loss, auto shop is at a loss aparently they have no clue. I asked for a flush on it Mayne it is that, but they don't have a flush machine aparently.

Any other ideas on this?

Did they even hook up a scanner to see what the sensor on the computer side is saying for coolant temp and not trusting the dash gauge.

Temp sensors do go bad.

And a stone cold motor won't overheat in a matter of a minute or two, that's never enough time for the coolant to get past 250º.

In my 3100 I had a temp sensor for the ecu and a temp sensor for the gauge itself.
Not sure if they changed it for the Grand Prix.

It had a new sender on it when I got it, I don't believe they did, they called me and said when they pressurized the system coolant was gushing out of the water pump, 350 hucks later it's still over heating

That I don't know. But this shop charges to much, I'll have to take it apart myself. They charge 65an hour just to diagnose plus repair charges

That's cheap LOL.

We charged 105 an hour, same with every other shop in my town and the Chevy dealership. If it takes .5 hours it's 50-60 bucks but if we took the full hour it's 105.

I got the car out of town. My shop of choice in town diagnose for free them it's 65 per hour but they don't charge book Raye if book says 2 hours but they do it in an hour no get charged 1 hour not 2
