Need to change cabin air filter, but no access.

SubwayGuy

Who is this guy?
I know you need to take the windshield cowl off on the passenger side of the car and the cabin air filter sits underneath it. Well, I don't know if a dealer did this to my car or what, but my cowl is caulked to the windshield and it cannot be removed. I don't know how to take it off without breaking anything. I guess I can cut the caulk and re-caulk when I'm done, but I don't know why someone would do this. Is there any other way to change the filter? I'll cut the caulk as a last resort, but I'm fairly certain the filter needs to be changed.

I doubt there is even a filter in there in the first place but I bet they did it to stop water from going down there and ending up on the passenger side floor.

Grand prix's never came with cabin filters anyway, only bonnevilles and regals/lesabre did.

I've seen several of them caulked, some already had the update water delfector, some didn't. but for a fact, your GP didn't come with a cabin filter oem.

Although they didn't come with filters, the tray is there for one and you can certainly use it. Just get the water deflector piece from GM, $4 and no passenger side leaks into cabin... : ) which you obviously had (caulk) in you car at one time.

Ohh, that makes sense. I did not know that these cars didn't come with one. But how come some similar W-Bodies did? I just found it odd that it would be sealed up like that.

The Regal came with it.

Let me tell you the ways the Regal is a superior vehicle and you (sorry) bought the cheap one.

Regal gets a digital number display for boost, GP got worthless lego block thingy
Regal got dual heated seats, GP got one heated seat. Not even a second seat option. (Seriously..never have I seen another car with only one)
Regal got the cabin air filter from the factory, GP guys had to pick their noses if they wanted to clean their "air filters".
Many Regals had strut tower bars from the factory, GP never even an option (Which one is the sports car)
Regal had comfy seats, GP got the worst Pleather rocks imaginable.
When a Regal is supercharged, there's no question from a quick drive by. A GP... you have to read the door badge, because they made them all the same.

Shall I continue?

Yes please lol. But on your last point, I sometimes confuse a Regal for a Century for a split second. Non-car people probably can't tell the difference. I've also added a strut tower brace so check that off the list lol. A regal looks too common in my opinion. The GP looks way sportier. Regals didn't come with a HUD.

Regals rule, Gp's drool. get over it kid lol

hud can be added.

and cops dont give a regal a second thought.

not only the one heated seat, but regals have both front seats with power and heat. and regal seats are a 1000 times more comfy. any one who says different is lying through his tooth lol

the way you tell a regal from a century is the century has no fogs, and has chrome grill and chrome around the tail lights.

a ls regal got the chrome strip in the bumpers, and a chrome ringed grill. and the chrome buick letters in the back bumper.

a GS or a GSE regal has NO chrome any thing. but the wheels maybe.

I will second the rock hard pleather. I had to have my wife pick me up the other day. It'd been so long since i'd sat on the passengers side in my own car. F me that thing is terrible! I'm glad my sub 300# ass broke the drivers side down a bit before I lost weight.

Really thinking about swapping to 2004+ seats in the future or having my seats redone with Katzkin.
