Need some help with 3.1L

I had my engine fail in my 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.1L (friend overheated it) so I purchased a very low mileage engine from a local junk yard but I noticed when I started to put it in that it has an AIR system on it. I believe the engine has california emissions because it came out of the same make and model car. My question is can I remove the AIR system? Do they sell plugs for the cylinder head? I have done some research and found that california emissions uses a different cylinder head but I am thinking that GM would sell plugs so that you can use that cylinder head for regular Federal emissions cars. Also is anything else different on the engine? Thanks in advance for the help!

i dont know about the plugs but i heard of people getting them welded in, not sure if that works or if its even possiable just what ive heard
could you not just unplug them and block them off,
i know what your talking about but ive never seen one for myself
