• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Ok so my car has been making a clicking noise whenever I turn to the right, and only to the right. It only does it if I'm going fast enough, maybe around 10 mph and it has gotten worse over the last few weeks (worse meaning more clicking). I figured it would be the cv joint, but when my dad and I got in and looked at it the cv joint was fine. We replaced the whole cv axle anyway, and the noise is still there. No idea what it could be, I need some help guys. Btw, the cv I replaced was the passenger side one.

The noise sounds somewhat metallic and only does it to the right side. When the car is jacked up and the wheels are turned and spinning, the noise is not there at all. It only made the noise when it's on the ground. Other than that idk what to say. It's just a clicking noise. Please help me out if you guys have any ideas.

sounds like your axleshaft... check it for play and check the condition of the boots make sure there are no rips or tears in the boot

are you sure its comming from the outside? my blower motor clicked only when i was goin straight or turned to the left, idk why but i replaced it and it worked fine, but i guess if you dont have the heat or air on my post is worthless :th_biggrin1:

The axleshaft is the same thing as the cv joint/driveshaft. Both sides appear to be perfectly fine, and as I already said, I just replaced the passenger side one.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be it cause it still makes the noise with the fan off.

Ok, so after the cv axle didn't fix it, we tried the wheel bearing hub assembly. Didn't fix it.

We were driving around in the street trying to figure out what it was and we noticed the noise was there when we stopped. So we left it in park and were looking all through the engine bay. All I could determine was that it was coming from the drivers side half of the engine. That's what it sounded like at least.

Could there be something wrong in the transmission? Torque converter maybe? We just had the transmission rebuilt about 2 yrs. ago.

I really want to get this noise gone, it's driving me nuts.

I'll check that tomorrow, or as soon as I get the chance. It's not up on the jack anymore right now cause we called it a night after we couldn't figure out what the noise was.

Well the clicking in that video sounds much more extreme than what mine is. It was almost a tinny sound. And when we could hear it when the car wasn't moving, you had to be up in the engine bay basically or you wouldn't be able to hear it as much. It is alot more noticeable when you're turning right though. That noise does sound similar though in the sense that the noise has a pattern to it. It doesn't sound just completely random, it's like a rhythm almost, like it would be a fan or something. That flex plate might be what it is, just not as cracked as severe as the one in that video was.

I'm gonna take it into the place we had the transmission rebuilt and see if they can figure it out.
