Need help with my 96 GP

I have a 96 GP SE, it has the 3.1 and 4 spd auto, the problem I am having is the trans will start shifting eratic , mostly once it gets warm and it feels like it is shifting to soon, unless you put your foot in it ! But when you are just driving around town it kinda lobs into the gears. From what I have read on the car and talked to people I was told to first change the fluids and filter, that didn't help so I changed the modulater on the front of the trans, seemed to get a little better, but now is getting worse again, I was told now to try putting a control solinoid in the trans, I bought it but have no idea where it is located to change it, I have read some info on it that just said it was hard to get to and that you have to get to it from a side access plate behind a K-brace that must be removed, is this on the drivers side of the motor, and would I be able to get to it via the wheel well if I removed the driver side front wheel? If it is, what is the best way to get at it, or am I looking in the wrong place. any help on this would be great. LB

Just replied to your PM, sorry I havent had a chance to reply on here as we have been out of town for the Branson GP meet and I am playing catch-up. Let us know what you come up with after a scan.

Hay guys, thanks for the advice, no check engine lights, and no codes on pcm, I changed the speed sensor and problem gone, I am not sure what was the deal , because there was no codes being shown, could it be that the pcm had just not recognised this as being a problem yet, or just not issue enough yet for a trouble code. The speed sensor that was in the car was coated with metal shavings and or slime, I ran a sea foam flush on the trans, put the new sensor in and changed the filter and fluids again, has not done it since. Hmmmm I'm guessing the VSS was not working.. But with out any codes who knows what was happening. Incase your wondering vss means the cars speed sensor.
