Need help with intake!

I'll get some more pics of my 06 setup posted for you. Most guys may steer you away from it since its a short ram and only sucking in hot air but i will hopefully be working on a homemade heat shield soon
 


Yeah I watched a video of a guy that had a ram air intake installed on 2 different cars. He made a custom heat shield with some cheap steel and foil tape.

I wouldn't mind seeing pictures. I'll probably end up doing something easy but I'm always willing to learn more and see more.
 
What he's talking about is removing all the pipe and the mass air flow and putting the cone filter straight onto the throttle body. Honestly, you probably shouldn't even worry about that yet, this is usually done with intercooled cars

Sorry, didn't notice it was a 7th gen. But see what 01GTP did, that'll be more than enough.

As soon as you get more serious about modding, TB intake will probably be the best.

He can not put the filter directly on the TB. His mas air flow sensor is separate from his throttle body. It would go TB then Maf then filter like I have minus the chunk of wizair tubing.

I realize that, TB intake is the term that means intake filter as close to throttle body as physically possible.
 


Hmm.. I guess if I wanted I could put it directly on the TB but I would need to zip tie the sensor somewhere so my check engine light wouldn't come on

Get some rubber connectors. Connect your maf to your tb with one then put the filter on the other end of the maf. You can not just zip tie that up in the engien bay or your car will think it is not getting any air flow.
 
So if I tie it and the check engine light doesn't come on then it's in an ok spot?... Also how come not many people have the filter directly on the TB? Pictures I see usually have at least a little piping or tubing..

You see the hard piece of plastic with the wires connected to it? That has to I repeat HAS TO be in between the air filter and tb. Take a good picture of your stock intake and I will draw what needs to be done on it.

its not only for intercooled, i said most people with intercoolers do that. Also, i guess i was wrong about the MAF because i didn't realize it was built into the throttle body on the older ones

Yeah, I just figured if it was tied in a certain spot that it would still detect airflow and be alright, but I was just taking a guess at it.

Also it seems like you guys have huge cone filters, the one I have is maybe 6-7 inches long, I'll measure it and be sure, but will I need a bigger one?

No...see that hole in your fender on the right when you remove the stock air box? That's basically where you want it to sit...or close to it.
 
Alright, thanks for the information. Did you have to buy any tubing for your setup or is that what was alread on it with just the cone filter added?
