• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I have a friend that lost 4th gear.
2000 bonneville SSEI is the car.
He wanted me to ask if the TCC solinoid is interchangeable from gtps, impala, etc etc, anyone have a exact list of what cars?

I am no expert, but is that why he lost 4th gear?
thanks all

He doesn't have a hardened 4th gear shaft and it stripped that's why he lost 4th. He needs a new shaft.

to fix that does he need the tranny completly out of the car?, does it need a whole rebuild or does it just need the new shaft?
thx :D we were gonna have a race in a few days. but then tranny did this..lol

He can still drive it the way it is just do a pan drop and filter change. You don't have to drop the trans out to change it. I believe you can pull the side cover and change it that way but I'm not sure.

What year ssei? The tranny mounts are different and its actually a different tranny housing. You don't have to pull tranny to replace but you do have to lower engine and tranny down a long way so you can get the pan off.

Contact tripleedgeperformance for specific details.

any other guru's give more info? he is gonna load the bonne and move to b.c(across canada) soon so need it running in good shape.

Here is a hot to fix it. http://www.grandprixforums.net/how-transmission-4th-gear-side-cover-access-54448.html

A replacement trans doesn't have to come from an H body. H, C, and G all had the same rear type of trans mount. Also the gearing as long as it's an HD trans is all the same on the 4T65E. What you need to know if you buy a trans to swap it is that is looks like this on the back.

This is what you will commonly find in a W body, because it has no rear mount to bolt to the casing. Although many W bodies have cases that have the extra support/bolt holes in back.

so apparently there were 3 different transmission in the 2000 Bonneville ssei's
model #'s
FCB
CHB
FHB
I cant fin the Letters anywhere on the tranny..... Bill do you know where you would find it?

where is the air compressor for the rear air ride shocks located? 2000 Bonneville ssei any info would be greatly appreciated

Should be under one of the rear quarters. Although I'm not 100% on it's exact. The leveling switch is on the driverside strut..just inside the wheel well. Often those go bad.
