So im backing out my parking area at home and all of a sudden my car stops moving. I assume its just some snow or something underneath so i start digging out an try to move it then but when i go back in my car put it in reverse my tires wont move at all an I hear this loud rattling noise near my passenger side tire. Now everytime i turn on my car an give it a little gas the rattlin noise comes back an gets even louder an still tires wont move at all an now i hear this awkward noise comin from the engine sounds like a loud rumble/screech comin from somewhere near the motor almos seems like its about to stall out on me. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?? Any help would be much appreciated....

CV axle snapped, Differential is gone? get underneath and look at CV joint first, then inspect Diff. will it go forward?

Jack it up and take the wheels off of it.. Look around, have somebody turn the wheel for you so you can get a look of what's moving and what's not moving.

Yea it moves in neutral. Had to roll it back in the driveway. I thought it might of been the cv axle too so i checked it. Didnt seem like it was broke.. Then again its at night time an 6inches of snow out an still falling!! Couldn of picked a worser time for this to happen...

Hmm... did it still make the noises your talking about as you were moving it back into the driveway? Obviously no engine noises, but anything that can be linked to the wheels?

this is how my transmission got replaced. put it in reverse and all it would do was rev and make noise. i sat in the car and ran it through the gears a bunch of times until it did move. from there i didnt drive it hardly anywhere and replaced the transmission within the week.

Na it didnt make any noise when i jus put it in neutral an rolled it back in the driveway. Only time it did was if i give it some gas in any of the gears. An would get louder an louder off an on everytime i give it some gas. Almost sounds like a loud spray can rattle coming from the passenger side wheel. Seems as if somethings bouncing around real hard in it. I hope its not the transmission jus had it replaced last november already.

ive replaced 3 transmissions in 2 years... one of the joys of owning a GP. did u get a brand new trans or a used one... if used how many miles did they say were on it?

in neutral thats what the car is supposed to do... unless your flex plate is cracked. Then it just makes noise all the time.

Yea it was a used tranny. I think it had 133k on it. It just seems kinda weird how i could back out for like 8 feet but when i tried to move it then is where my tires stopped getting wheel spin. At first i thought it had somethin to do with all the snow around it since i we had over 6 inches here at the time but the noise its making now tells me otherwise. I might have to get it towed to a shop somewhere but with all these cars stuck everywhere seems like the towing services are going to take foreva. Cant try to work on it in all that snow.

It was only a 90 day warranty an i had it put in last october or november but to honest after seeing the youtube vids i think thats exactly whats wrong with my car. Sounds the exact same in the vids. Anybody know how i came across breaking my flexplate just from backing out an how to fix it or the cost on average to repair??

it will cost you like $30 to fix it yourself. the hardest part is separating the trans and engine far enough to get it in there.

Yea thats what i figured... To messy out for me guess ima have to take the loss o this 1 an take it to a shop hopefully they wont try to overcharge the hell outta me.

Thanks everybody for the input. Fount out it was just my cv axle. 100 bucks fixed. Must of hit a hard piece of ice or somethin an popped it. Damn tow truck guy almost lost my car. Was driving to the shop an when he braked a little my car bumped into the back of the truck(it was a flat bed). Luckily he fixed it an got my car save at the shop.
