• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

So, I have had Google Chrome on my laptop for 3 months and never had an issue. Last night before I shut it down I closed chrome and then reopened it to check one more thing. It wouldnt work, says the following:
Unable to access the network

Google Chrome is having trouble accessing the network.

This may be because your firewall or antivirus software wrongly thinks Google Chrome is an intruder on your computer and is blocking it from connecting to the Internet.
Here are some suggestions:

  • Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
Error 138 (net::ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED): Unable to access the network
Now, I know its not my internet connection becuase IE works fine and mom isn't having any issues with her laptop.
I've looked in control panel and can't find the firewall that will let me allow google chrome as an exception.
Are any of you computer guru's willing to help?
I HATE IE!!!

I'm not seeing one in AVG.
And when I do find a firewall thing in the control panel, its windows firewall, and it wont let me click on anything to change or switch from item to item.

(this is probably something very stupid that I'm to blonde to figure out)

Try disabling the firewall and see if you can connect. You wont wanna surf at all with the firewall down, but at least you'll know if thats whats causing it.

I have AVG Free on it, and when I uninstalled McAfee firewall it automatically turned windows firewall on.
So I'm protected with AVG and Windows as the firewall.
Good enough I hope.
