Need advice on a GP

So I am looking into buying my first Grand Prix. The one I am looking at is a 2002 GP GT, it has only had one owner(old person), 78,000 miles and seems to be in good working condition. I have not noticed any water damage in the floor boards, all electronics seem to work fine, transmission seems okay. The engine does have a light tick, but I'm not sure if that's how the engine does or if it was because it was 20 degrees out. Essentially what I am asking is what should I be looking for on the car for potential problems? What are the weak spots of an '02 GT. I had a 2000 Dodge Avenger with the notorious A604 tranny from a Dodge Caravan, so the last thing I want is tranny issues. BTW the dealer I'm looking at is asking $6986 for an '02 with 78k, sunroof, onstar, no leather, power seats etc. Is it worth it? NADA is a 7900 KBB is 7000.

Thanks,

Eric B.

If it was me, I'd search around a little more. You can probably find a better deal. Maybe even run across a GTP. If you get into heavy moding, your gonna have to get yourself a built tranny. Anything over your basic support mods.
