N/A Advice... Heads?

Bedwards

Hey guys. I'm really considering just keeping my car N/A, even though I'm on the fence with a turbo setup. The thing is, I'm a 20 year old student who really can't afford to turbo it, and possibly end up having a major repair come up later from the extra abuse my stock parts are taking. I know most of you guys are going to yell at me and tell me to at least top swap it, but I think I might just keep it N/A, and keep it my reliable DD. So far I've done the Powerlog, downpipe, and CAI. I have the HV3 insert on the way. Next will be the HVTB. From there I'll start making my way into the engine, starting with a cam. My question for you guys is... What heads would you recommend to yield the greatest performance gain, while keeping my car reliable as a DD? I know ZZP and W Body Store have a few different ones, but I don't know what to look for. Help is much appreciated! =)

whats not reliable about a top swap?

From everyone I've talked to about doing a top swap, I've basically got the same response... It's a ticking time bomb running boost on high compression. I just don't want to **** something up. :(

Stage 2?

Pfft.

Selliot has a set of ported and polished L26 heads for sale right now...check em out...then buy some #105 crow cam springs, titanium retainers...and get some 1.95 Roller Rockers...done. Extra 25-40 horse for your N/A car...couple that with an HV3, 3" DP, ZZP PLOG, Ported TB form Reptile, FWI, 180* and a tune...your looking at low 14's or high 13's with a good launch. That's just me though. Plus...if you tune it right and you have flow mods (eg...headers, ported blower) then a top swap isn't a ticking time bomb...it is if you try to drop pulley sizes on it though.

Selliot? Sorry, I'm not sure who/what that is... Lol. And it's a set of L26 heads... They will work fine with my L36 block, correct? You'd recommend the 1.95 Roller Rockers over the cam?

Thanks for the response!

He is just a member here...look in the For Sale section.

1.95's will gain you almost as much power as a cam...ALMOST. Nothing is like going cammed. Unless your a woman and spray it. :th_tongue2:

1.95's also only require taking off the valve covers...doesn't require taking the whole motor apart LOL

since when are top swaps not reliable? This subject keeps coming up. I want proof.

My car is a dd, has 11k on it since top swap, 5psi, 0.0 knock, and beaten all day long :)

If your not using high compression for your m90 setup, your not living
