N/A, 3''dp???

biggt

New member
some local guy is selling his zzp SS 3'' down pipe with the cat and sensor,
so my question will a 3'' dp be good or will it be worthless?

thanks

From what I hear and seem to know a 3" isnt that bad on a N/A.Youll get better sound, better flow, and more pull up top.But you may lose some low end.I have 2.5in from cat delete to glasspack and it works well. Now i might get a 3" shorty lol

would think anything bigger than stock will help. always heard 2.5" on n/a to keep back pressure but who knows how accurate/effective that is. look around for other setups similar to yours.

It wouldn't give you gains if you don't have any other exhaust mods. The catback would just be more restrictive than the downpipe.

Thats like using a straw, but having one portion of the straw be bigger than the rest of the straw, its going to build up in there and you'll have to push more to keep the same velocity.

im pretty sure the gt exhaust is the same at the gtp. meaning the stock cat back its gravy til 300ish hp. correct me if im wrong.

wut? the catback, even stock, isnt restrictive.

a 3" downpipe is good on any car, whether it is n/a or not. the fact is that a 2.5" downpipe is still a limiting factor, so just go 3" and be done with it.

Catback's on the GT/GTP is 110% the same.

They are BOTH good to 350 FWHP...which is over 400 at the crank.

I'd never put anything smaller than 3" DP's on these cars? Why? Because the factory DP/U-Bend suck THAT much.

Let me try another comparison, Stock manifolds to a 3" Downpipe with stock catback would be like using a 1/2" hose into a 2.5" funnel which leads to a 1/2" hose. It just doesn't make any sense, and you'll lose velocity at the funnel/Downpipe.

That's my theory and I'm sitcking with it.

until you figure out how much exhaust has to move through that one pipe. by the time it gets to the catback it has already gone through the cat and cooled down enough to be okay in the 2.25" piping.

i haz a 2.5dp. should be enough. would get 3'' if ur planning on a topswap or something.

i called the guy, he will keep it for me until march because i got other stuff to do first. so 3'' dp will be
