Well one we never saw again and the other we got back. The one we got back was a little Toyota truck my dad used for work, they took all the speakers and the head unit (even though it didn't have the face:confused:) I guess the people didn't know how to drive a stick shift because they over heated it and just dumped it on the curb. It was a PITA to get it running again.:th_shakinghead2:

I've never stolen things, but we've tried it on a couple of mine and friends cars.. as long as the alarm can be disabled.. thieves have all the time in the world. If I had 10 minuets of safe working time, as a thief.., I could jack pretty much any system out there, I'd even take the seats if it was an 04+ GP :D

Your metal cage is a good idea.. but what about a bolt cutters? If a *good* thief is going to hit your car.. he already knows what tools he needs to bring, and what you have holding down everything... I've seen inside many cars when the owners are standing right next to it, and they have no idea whose looking..

My brother in laws car got broken into by a couple of rookies a few years back, and they couldn't get the box out, so they just took their crowbar and punched holes in the subs, and smashed the amps with the bar.. pond scum at their finest..

You're absolutely right. I don't think there is a way to have a security system that is completely theft proof. Some good bolt cutters will get through my cage idea with little trouble. Really the point is just lessening the risk. The more work a thief has to go to, the less likely you are of losing something. I think every thief in history has some laziness to them, otherwise they'd grow a pair, man up and get a real job just like the rest of decent society.
Besides, if a thief is that "good," he'd really be wasting his time and apparent talent/skills on my car when there are plenty more expensive systems out there that are much less protected. To some extent it's just the luck of the draw (or lack thereof). You can have a well protected house or car that will get nailed, and then have another house or car with the doors never locked and it will never have a problem. You really have no choice but to lessen your chances as best you can and then hope for the best.

You know what would be a smart thing to do? A separate battery for the alarm system. I know most thieves have one person open the hood (alarm going off) and the second disconnecting the battery. If you had a second hidden battery, then the alarm would remain engaged. I think that would be sweet.

Rice - I agree with your second last post. For something as low key as your install, you should really have nothing to worry about. It's sad that you have to worry about someone stealing your **** in the first place.

newarkk - When my alarm goes off, I can disconnect the front battery, but the 2 runs of 1/0 positive and negative that go to the rear battery, keep it powered up. It might be 10 or 15 more seconds of screaming alarm time until they figure out what is going on.. but that might be all one needs..

BTW, when I was like 9, my huffy was stolen...:( Can I have it back now? You can keep the basket....:th_thumbsup-wink:
 
anyone did that to my systm they better hope i dont catch em cuz those bars would be paying there faces a visit haha n actually i have no worrys im from a small twn made up of mostly old people

Alarms are useless. Even if they go off, nobody cares. The best way to protect your sound system is to turn it off before you pull into wherever you are going to be parking (including your house). Nobody is going to steal what they dont know is there.

I agree unless you have a two-way alarm. You'll care if your alarm is going off.
 
Very true. never had a two way alarm, but I did have a good one way alarm and it didn't help when my rims and tires went missing.
 
I don't live in a very "rich" neighbourhood, middle class, yet one guy who used to live here had two different lambos... never any attempts on those. Guy across the street has two built stangs and a built F150, again, no issues.

I wouldnt say that all alarms are useless, but that's exactly what I do, I turn everything off a couple blocks before I turn down my street.
