my kid wants my GP

This thread is very entertaining!!!! I am so glad I could bring some enlightening fun to you all - thanks for all the posts.
About my daughter - she is in college, has a job, loves cars, and loves this GP. I do agree that she should work for a car. I do not agree that this car is too much car. But then again, my summer car is an 04 Cobra. That would be too much car for her to begin with. It is all relative, relative to conditions, to driver's training, etc.
I just obtained a 99 Blazer. After I get it roadworthy I will have to decide what she will end up with.
Again, thanks for all the colorful and entertaining responses!

When I got my license I drove my dads beater truck 2001 silverado 2500 not really a beater just a little used more banged up from my sister who drove it before me but I brought that thing back to life when I had it. The car I really wanted to get more than anything was my dads 06 prix it was one of those ones with the special ground effects kit, wheels, and exahust, and in our area you never see these around but anyways I wanted that thng so bad even talked about buying it off them I think my first offer was $8000 which was reasonable because it had about 80k on it and come on were family but the thing was if anyone knows about the sale going on in the summer of 06 it was 72 months no intrest so they still had to pay like 16k on it even though its no where near worth that and my parents didnt want to buy a new car for themselfs at that time so eventually my dad found me a car 2002 grand prix gt with 57k on it new tires brakes battery and full tune and detail from the dealer plus a 36k warrantty got a great deal on it $7300 with tax it was $8200 never knew tax was so much i was pre approved for a loan for up to 9500 before I got the car I was 17 when I got it we put it in my moms name and her minivan in my name because insurance for me on the car was over 2k a year thats crazy what would they have charged me if I had gotten the TA I drooled over lol

my parents gave my a 1975 olds delta 88 when i was 12 and told me to fix it up to drive when i got my license well i fixed it up and sold it then bought a 72 GTO with a 455 when i was 14 and fixed it up it was a beast then one fatefull day my dad caught me doing somethimg stupid (street racing) and i was forced to sell the GTO and had to drive a S**T brown datsun 310gx.

I'm 17, my dad gave me his GTP and got himself a G8, But the only thing was he agreed to get me a nice car if i take care of it. Pay insurance and gas. Make her do that. That way she has to respect what she is getting. Giving a kid a car doesn't show that they don't have work ethic as long as you make them respect that what they are given isn't a right. It is a privilege. Thats what i'm saying and i'm about the same age as your daughter.

Im 19 and i bought my car when i was 17, a month before i could get my license. Paid for it all myself, car, gas, and insurance. My dad would help me and throw a couple hundred $$ my way when i had a couple of big repairs that had been done which i have appreciated. He did buy me a motorcycle when i was 16 which was sweet, but ive kinda been paying that back overtime (like giving him my 05 yamaha yz250f dirtbike which i bought with my own money to use as a trade in for a new motorbike cause i dont use it anymore.) But i still pay gas and insurance for the bike, which i dont mind. about 10$ to fill it up when its empty, and insurance is 570$ a year :)

But yea id say buy her a gt
