My Heads Up Display Keeps going bright then dim

I have a 2002 GTP and my heads up display likes to go from bright to dim to not on at all and then will come back on for a second then go off again. What could be the problem?

I know there is various thread out there with the fix, but I think it's a problem with some solder connections that are failing.
