My current PLOG + 3" DP setup vs. ZZP Headers

Wanting to get some info on how much of a benefit I will see when installing ZZP headers over my front powerlog and 3" ZZP downpipe. Worth it??

Anyone gone from my setup to headers and noticed gains and/or quarter mile time improvements?

Open to comments, feedback, suggestions.

yeah, I will be on a 2.8" pulley with a FSIC shortly.. I would think my current exhaust setup is going to start to be the "choking" point pretty soon (if not already)

I think ZZP claims the powerlog will support up to 300 hp, which I would imagine you are approaching with a 3.2" pulley and supporting mods, so the headers should help a bit. This is just an estimate, however.

yeah, have been running a 3.1 pulley lately on corn. currently have a 2.8 pulley installed with my intercooler while I finish installing that. I would imagine the stock rear manifold and crossover are starting to become fairly restrictive. ZZP headers arrive in the mail tomorrow!

That's a pretty huge dent in the pocket at $900 just for some headers....mostpeople on here seem to run the SD headers withno problems as long as clamps get swapped out. Plus only costin a lil over 200 frees up cash for other mods

I actually landed a good deal on a used set. I agree, would not have paid the money for new ones!

I mean yea they look nice but with SD's only a third of the price they're actually pretty good quality. I'm pretty happy with mine

They where $760 during Black Friday ;)

I would never waste even $600 on new headers for a WBody.

SD's are just fine...and 50-100 bucks worth of modifications and they're just as good.

Get better clamps, RTV the slip joints, and replace the crappy flex/gooseneck downpipe. Done and done.

You're not going to make any more power with ZZP headers over SD's anyways...unless you're looking for dyno numbers and you need more flow...then try tracking down some old TOG X's.

IF you can find them.

True, they are quite expensive regardless of how you look at it (I guess even for the used set I picked up). A guy on the FB forums reached out to me recently that he picked up 3 tenths in his quarter mile time and something like 5 mph when going from an exhaust setup like mine to ZZP headers. Sounds like a nice improvement. Wondering if a similar improvement can be had with SDs (I would think so).

I cant imagine zzp or sd or obx or pacesetters, u name it would make any difference. They're all just about the same setup from the primaries to DP so which ever he had woulda prob gave him the same results. Zzps headers are nice since they have less leak points but like I said alot of us here are pretty happy with the SD set

The air flow on headers is much better than the stock manifolds. Primary size isn't the problem with stocks, it's the flow. Basically anything is better than the stock manifolds. Way back before the plog the only other option was PEMs (ported exhaust manifolds) and those only cleaned up the openings to reduce turbulence of the airflow coming out of the heads.

Used set of ZZPs came in last night. damn these headers are nice! Need to find some time over the holidays to get them installed. I am anxious to see what the car runs like with the FSIC and ZZP headers installed. Will post some pics when I have a chance

Headers have shown to actually give almost no gains on decently modded cars. I wouldn't be surprised if you pick up no power.

I wonder why that would be the case?? Looks like the flowpath of these headers requires a lot less exhaust gas directional change, larger diameters for less restriction, better "vacuum" effects since the fluid can maintain higher velocity without changing direction as much, etc...
