My 97 GTP vs 5.0 Mustang, Impala ss, SRT4

my cousin just traded his ls1 camaro for an 89 mustang.(the camaro had a rod knock and there was some noise in the rear end.) so him and his friends were bragging about how fast it was. it has a small cam, short throw, cai, 70mm bbk throttle body, ported heads, headers, 75 shot(bottle isnt filled yet). i told him to line it up. so we raced from a dead stop at a light where its perfect to race cuz the road basically turns into a highway. i pulled 2 lenghts off the line and he started to catch up but stayed right at my rear bumper all the way to 135 when i let off. he wasnt too happy. lol. just cuz your car has the word "mustang" on it doesnt mean its fast.

awhile ago i was supposed to race my cousins friend with an impala ss. 5.3l. he has exhust and pcm work. i was doubting myself since those run like 14.2 stock. i just lined up next to him randomly at a light and i saw him creepin forward and slammin on the brakes real hard like he wanted to race me. so the light turns green and i beat him by 2 lenghts by 60mph. 5.3=garbage

two days ago i raced an srt4. he was on 14lbs of boost and open dp. dead stop i beat him by two lenghts all the way. then we raced from a 45 roll and he stayed right next to me til about 125 then i started walking away.

all these races were with a messed up trans too. my valve body is messed up so everytime the car shifts the converter goes into full lockup for a second or two then comes out of it. so these races wouldnt have been as close as they were if i had a decent trans. im gettin a new velve body this week. i will prolly race my cousin on spray this time if it isnt too cold. and im goin to the track this weekend for test n tune. hoping for 13.5 on street tires.
 


Killer man. what are your mods? 5.0's require a lot of work to be fast. Have a 91 5.0 with a E303 cam, BBK headers, 4.10 rear, BBK intake and TB, full 3" catless exhaust (with x-pipe), 5-speed, etc, etc and still only barely beat a stock GTP.

As for the SRT.. He should have taken you up top. That's where turbo cars own

I just sold my 5.0 with heads, headers, E cam, suspension, and some other mods and my best time was a 12.8

With those mods.. you shouldn't be having problems against STOCK gtp's

Your hoping for 13.5's and your claiming to be raping SRT4's??

What are your mods, otherwise this is hard to believe, assuming your stock or close to it.

lol. my best time so far was a 13.82 on street tires. and a bad knock sensor. first time at the track too. my mods are xp cam, comp 105s, 3.4 pulley, mildly ported heads, sc, tb, manifolds, 3in catless dp, 3800 stall coverter, 3.29 gearing, cai, msd 8.5mm plug wires. and i wasnt claming to be raping srt4s. i beat one so far.

thats what i thought. and on 14lbs too. i guess the xp cam helps.

Keyword "heads and some other mods". This is still for the most part stock. Stock trans, stock clutch, stock motor, etc. By barely I do mean a few cars.. Not anything to write home about though
