• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

My 3.8 N/A build

Topswaps 90% of the time have issues from the first startup on. Then when they get it going the trans blows up or they chip a piston lols.exact Reason i sold my topswap.
If he does decide to boost i say do a whole l67 and drop it in. And buy the trans its connected to for a spare.

this is why im just building my n/a I also don't want to deal with the problems.

The biggest thing about modding an engine is the return on your investment in HP. If you spend $1,000 on cam, rockers, accessories, and only wind up using more gas... How will that make you feel?

You can spend just a little more and sit in a rocket! How will that make you feel?

I hate to bust your bubble, but unless you have a one-of-a-kind 40th GT, its not too valuable to begin with. If it had only 5k miles and was on milk crates in a garage, started every few days to keep the juices going, it would only be worth so much and not as much as you think. LoL

So, if you want my $.02, buy a L67 and swap it in that engine bay, mod it to hell with a nice built tranny and have some fun. You can take out and store your precious stock original engine and PCM to sell some day. Cam to just say you have a cam is counterintuitive!

: )

remember the golden rules...

#1 - you gotta pay if you wanna play!

#2 - FAST/CHEAP/RELIABLE - you can only have two at any one time, choose wisely!

im not saying I want the fasted car around, nor am I saying its worth a ton of money right now, as my dad once told me in his day he never thought the chevelle ss would be worth anything, and look at it now.

Everyone here will till you to boost or do nothing. Dowhat you want and be happy.
Had my n/a for 5 years now putting mods on it here and there and happy with the results. Might not be the "best bang for buck" but i know the engine wont suddenly crap out like 90% of topswaps do.
If the engine does crap out ill throw a l67 in it or get a gtp. Otherwise ill probably be in my 40's by the time i get a high hp car lol

quick search on this website will bringup tons of threads of issues with topswaps. the reason I sold mine years ago.

only issues ive seen with top swaps are guys who dont know wtf they are doing. then it dont fire up or worse, vac leaks and such. aka installer failures.

only top swaps that i saw that let go were either main or rod bearings, and that happens to them when they are n/a still.

I saw how many issues ppl were having and didnt want to create a chance where my car could be out of service. wasn't worth it imo. if i had a secondary vehicle back then like i do now I might have tried it.
i saw multiple threads with chipped pistons that's what really deterred me in the end. tune related most likely i know i know but like i said i didnt want to be left stranded without a vehicle.

I don't care for a top swap and I don't care to have a turbo either It may sound stupid but I don't need all the power, i don't care to have the fastest car around, I want a cam for the sound mostly, it will most likely be my dd for a year or so, im going to have to get a 4 door car, I assume It will be another GP, I convinced my girlfriend we need a GXP.
