My 2008 GXP HAS NO BRAKE LIGHTS

Hello everyone, I am purchasing a 2008 GXP it only has 15000 miles on it.
I am trading the wifes 06 fusion in on it. I have had two other grand prixs and loved them one was a 02GTP and the last was a 2004GTP.
I have not picked up the car yet cause the dealership that is getting my car ready found that it was flashing a sign in the Driver Information Center that say traction control and abs are not working they say that they needed to replace the BCM and that did not fix it now they say that it needed a PCBM they replaced it and still no brake lights. The flashers work and they can make the Brake lights come on with the scan machine. It has been in the shop for 2wks now they think maybe they will try another BCM witch will be in Monday. I am getting a little flustered I have made a deal to trade and I know it is still under warranty but I want to drive my car and can not. Has anyone ever herd or experienced a problaem like this. They say that the reason the the lights are flashing on the DIC is because the car know that the brake lights are inop and this is way they are flashing

Walk away from the car. Tell them the deal is off if they cant get it right this last time. If it were me i would call the deal off. There are other gxps out there.

If it has this many electrical problems and they have been working on it and still nothing. you will have problems with the car down the road. could be days months or years.

I take it this is not from a Pontiac dealer? Sounds like they have no clue what they are dealing with. That is always a bad sign, and it sounds like from the list of other problems you explained, that car was traded in for those very reasons I am betting.

Like the others said...........Ditch the deal and look for a better option. Sorry it didnt work out like you hope :(

had the same problem on my 2000 gt, the brake lights run through the turnsignal switch, replaced it and everything works again,, apparently this has been a GM problem for the last few years

I'd walk away from this car quick! why bother with electrical nightmares, it wont be the last one i bet

I'm suprised they haven't checked the brake switch. If the turn signals work and they can use a Tech tool to turn on the lights, the BCM is probably fine. It could be the EBCM (ABS controller) or the brake switch, both of which have the authority to tell the BCM to turn on the brake lights.
