Re: My 2005 WRX STi - Now available in extra dent flavor!
Like I said, I already have plans to get my CCW but not because of what just happened recently. Once I get it, I'd hope to never have to actually draw my gun, but it's nice to have the piece of mind.
In that situation, CCW would have been useless. He didn't make any physical advances toward me, and (aside from the fact I'm on campus and wouldn't have been carrying anyhow, but let's pretend it happened off campus for the sake of conversation) had I even lifted my shirt to show that I was carrying, that's a criminal offense on me that would lose me my CCW, and could have severely escalated the situation. Kids do walk around toting guns illegally around where I go to school so one of them could have had a gun or grabbed one from the car, then i could be shot, dead, or dealing with the fact that I had to shoot someone. I mean think about it, if you shoot and kill someone, even in justified self-defense because you were genuinely in danger, you have to live with that, and with their family saying "oh he wouldn't have hurt a fly, you're a monster, etc" and possible future violence toward me or my family.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying we shouldn't have CCW because of what could happen. You just have to remember that you better not ever point a gun at someone unless you're ready to pull the trigger, and it better be for a good reason.
