My 2005 WRX STi - 6/28/2016 dyno tune update 429 AWHP/377 AWTQ on 93 octane

Re: My 2005 WRX STi

I know :th_winking:

The last Subaru commercial I saw made the claim that Subaru is the #1 automobile manufacturer for vehicle value retention.

hell yes, i believe it. ive been waiting for years for price drops..... aint happening.

sucks for those who are broke and want in (this guy). good for the two of you though.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi

Not a big deal but I wrapped my Keyfob in CF stuff from headlight armor and did a little custom painting. I think it looks cool.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi

do things like that to your car, not your key fob. goofy.

weather's been ****ty, I've been shut in :P I'm ordering a dp, Borla XR-1 catback and an accessport (I'm getting a good deal on it, I might sell it and get a tactrix cable later) tomorrow. I'm also ordering enough of the CF stuff to wrap some interior pieces in the STi and some pieces in my dad's G8.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi

Here's some new pictures. It needs a good wash and detailing, but I'm on spring break next week so it'll get all of that.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi

I am actually :D

Rally Pigs are going on the mirrors, and I'm going to pick up some rally armor mudflaps some day.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

as i clicked the link, i thought to myself: "this better not be the guy who just bought that SS/SC."

it's you, and i'm fully envious.

that interior is killer. color match your wheels, perhaps? then all the sti emblems need matched overlays. done.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

here are my comments:

- i sure hope you arent buying those parts new because if so you're filthy ****ing rich. my used axle-back alone cost $180 or so. (it's magnaflow, the one turboxs sells; 2.5" and sounds great)
- good deal on the accessport, meh. just use it, but you'll need a more specific tune later without a doubut, which an accessport cant give you.
- i too wanted mud flaps, but then realized they look really cheesy.
- do not paint those wheels or i will find you and do horrible things

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

I agree with Bio.

do a full 3" exhaust right from the get-go, I watched my friend start off with a 2.5" exhaust only to go 3" later on and spend more money. If you know a good shop custom is always an options.

And paint the wheels gold.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi (new pics on pg 5)

The Borla XR-1 is full 3" (with a 3" DP adapter, it normally steps down to 2.5 to bolt up to the stock DP), as is the dopwnpipe. The reason I picked the Borla is because unlike the most of the other CBE's I see for sale have the stupid angled ricer can muffler and I hate that look. It's also more quiet thanmost of the other catbacks I've heard (The Borla Hush is almost the same as stock) and it has a normal looking tip, no bigger than the stock one. All of that together means less attention from teh authoritahs which is good.

As for the AP, I have heard a lot of guys say they can't get their Mac to recognize the car through a tactrix cable. My PC's battery only lasts about 10 minutes and it freezes/bluescreens all the time so I'm not going to use it to tune with.

And I haven't decided what to do about the wheels yet. I really don't want to take shortcuts/do cheap **** with this car so paint is out. I could always powdercoat them, or I could just get different wheels for the summer and put some winter tires on the BBS's.

Re: My 2005 WRX STi

1) How do you people keep getting this awesome angle shot.... Did you climb a tree out front and take a picture right before you fell out??? :th_jester:

2) 1200 rpms seems kinda high for idle to me... :th_scratchhead:

1) There's a retaining wall along part of my driveway. I hopped up on it to get some shots from higher ground :) If it would be more impressive if I were climbing trees we can roll with that however.

2) I had just started the car, cold motor. Idle drops to about 750 RPM's once it's warmed up. :th_thumbsup-wink:
