finally did it. needed new pads and rotors anyways. pair of caliper brackets and pins were $10 total from the junk yard. rotors were $30 each. pads were $40 for the set. the brake hardware kit was $7

sanded and painted the brackets. (didnt have time to paint the calipers red. had to get to work.) put the new hardware on. such an easy and cheap upgrade and really fills up the rim. love it.

Did you get to use the bigger brake pads or stock ones? If I'm getting this right its pretty much the same set up as the F-body's but without the better calipers. Which should mean you can swap those in when you get them correct?

yeah its a simple upgrade. i really needed new pads and rotors so i can really tell a difference and they havnt been broken in yet. yeah theres better upgrades, but for the money it cant be beat. i was looking into new calipers also. isnt there a sort of dual piston? off of like a newer monte carlo or impala? correct me if im wrong. and they use this bracket also?

The F Bodys came with the dual piston aluminum calipers. I just picked a set up off ebay for 50 bucks. Just need bigger rotors, pads and different brake lines. Also need to adapt them to fit the 14mm bolt because the Fbodys used a 12mm bolt.

you dont need different brake lines. Stock ones work.

Should have used the 06+ monte calipers dual piston and 12" rotors.

I have read the stock lines arent long enough for the fbodys unless you unbolt them and let them sort of hang there.

You might have to bend the bracket the hard line attaches to just a little bit, but they work. I ran them for 3 years until I got SS lines for cheap.

Monte dual pistons you can get for cheap on Rockauto.. looking at them you can get remaned ones for like 40 bucks a piece.

So, if we're looking for parts, we're looking for brackets and rotors from an '06 and newer Monte Carlo or Impala, right? Does that mean it's automatically for a 12" rotor? Our stock calipers bolt right on, then, right?

No. If you go with the 06+ Impala brake upgrade, you need the 12" rotors, the calipers and brackets. If you want to keep your stock calipers you need the caliper brackets and 12" rotors from a car like an 02 Monte Carlo. If you go to rockauto.com and look up the caliper brackets for an 02 Monte SS then click on the part#, they give you a listing of all the cars that bracket will cross reference to.
