Well, this is as close to mounted as you are going to get for now. They are sitting in the garage, barely enough room to fit the car in there with them. We need to organize that garage, my mom flipped out lol.

Well, I put the tinted reverse bar on and one rim just to see how it would look. I am thinking SSC springs in my future.

The car wasnt fully settled in the pic, but I dont think it will go much lower.

So I come to the question again, with the rims, do I want to tint the Tails like that reverse bar, or color match them and the reverse bar?

I can see both looking good, that is the problem lol.

But I am leaning toward Color matched with Tinted sections.

IDK what I will do yet. I can see both sides. Black would look cool bc it is the accents but color match with tint would look clean, but could be too much. I thought about light VHT like the reverse bar, and having the flat finish, like the rims.

Flat VHT looks like you failed at using it.

i would go 2 coats VHT, lots of gloss so they shine like a mother. and dont listen to jake, he's a slacker lol

I just read it. So you sand before, then between coats, but not the last coat. Then apply Clear coat???? Is that right?

Do you wet sand the Clear Coat, or how do you polish?

i wet sand the last coat, then buff the shiz out of it


bassically, sand fresh tails., spray tint, 2 coats, wet sand to remove orange peel etc and to help gloss em a bit, several coats of clear, wet sand. buff, wax

the wetsanding after spraying helps you to lighten up your spray and even it out too if you got a lil heavy etc.


IMO super dark tails look Terrible.

I only want a light smoked look on all rear lights. So you dont buff between coats of VHT, and you do Wetsand before clear coat.... what do you use to buff with? And you are talking about 2000 grit right?

yeah, 2000 for the wetsanding. basically to avoid deep scratches, i wetsanded from start to finish, just using like 400-2000 over the course of sandings.

and just like meguiars ultimate compound or something like it.

I have the Ultimate Wax in the bottle, it is what I wax my car with.

So I would, wetsand bare lights, spray, wetsand(2000 grit), spray, wetsand, let dry, Clear coat a couple of coats, wetsand, then buff with wax??? Is that right?

sounds about right... really if you knwo much about painting its a sinch.. my recomendation would be to find a crappy 97-03 tail, and practicing on that.. my first time i went to the junkers and got a crappy tail light..
