My '05 V - Summer mode engaged

Re: My '05 V - Slowest build ever - Doing it right

What do you think it makes at the wheels? I know what mine makes........
And i'll bet its easily heavier than me.

Re: My '05 V - Slowest build ever - Doing it right

aaaaand...who with a grand prix making about 300+whp can actually drive it to beat me? what about past 100mph?

Huh? im not concerned about over 100 either, wasted that srt8 charger like 3 times shut down around 130ish.

Those were from a dig, but really what do you think your car makes at the wheels?

I wasn't starting a pissing match here just busting your balls and daves or anyone else that doesn't own a w body any more lol.

Re: My '05 V - Slowest build ever - Doing it right

i asked about demon eyes as a legitimate opinion question.

then my thread title got changed again.

Re: My '05 V - Slowest build ever - Doing it right

Do what you like man, amber would be cool. I had mine only come on when I unlocked the car

Re: My '05 V - Slowest build ever - Doing it right

I already explained that last night......

Amber, its the only option that wound look retarded and cheesy on a caddy. Yes I do like the car however not for a second do I believe its faster.

Re: My '05 V - Slowest build ever - Doing it right

the more i think about it the less i think they'll ever be on so it's kind of a waste.

they don't really "show" during the day and at night i'll have my headlights on. so i get to turn on my running lights to turn them on when i park at a show...at night? hm. kind of a waste.

and my car is slow, hah. i'm more looking forward to the mpg gain than the +20whp from the tune after the headers. and hopefully it sounds cooler.

Re: My '05 V - Slowest build ever - Doing it right

at what point do bolt ons make a tune worth it?

headers is all so far right? must be a few other cheap mods that would be worth doing?

Re: My '05 V - Slowest build ever - Doing it right

i have an intake already. anything more is no longer a "bolt on" as far as making more power is concerned.

sounds like after the headers and a tune i should pick up somewhere between 20-30whp, but i'm not overly concerned about the gains.

Re: My '05 V - Slowest build ever - Doing it right

In stock form the LS based motor "tunes" are lousy and boring really. They run retarded rich, dipping down to nearly 10.9 AFR commanded, they have TONS of torque mngt holding power back. They do it because they are suppose to driven by anyone at anytime anywhere they want, it must be able to be reliable and have no issue's.

I have no proof of anything from the tune I did on my own 5.3, but just from making it run leaner (around 12.5-12.8ish) and taking away almost all of the engine's tq mngt and leaving the trans tq mngt in place, I bet I gained 10-15hp atleast if not a couple more. Thats with running 89 octane and no adjustment to timing, just a VE and MAF tune as those are key to a smooth powerband.

I bet with the headers and a good tune you will pick up 20-30hp no problem over stock, hell maybe even slightly more because it's a better motor than my 5.3.

Re: My '05 V - Slowest build ever - Doing it right

i never took a picture of the coating on the headers. so here's a picture of that:

Re: My '05 V - Parts laying around, general laziness thread

That car looks much better than yours.. but it's obviously modded

Re: My '05 V - Parts laying around, general laziness thread

They should have just done it that way from the factory.

Not sure about the top portion tho...that screams I'm a Neon SRT4 to me.
