Guys

Got a question!

I have an appointment at a custom exhaust shop here in London, ON. He is going to take the old stock mufflers off and put on a set of HUGE aftermarket mufflers.
The question I have is, I have them in my apartment right now, cleaning them and getting them ready for tomorrow. I go to pick one up and it has a rattle in it. I searched the internet and it could be caused by debris logged in the muffler. I took a second look inside of them but didnt see anything.
I got them off a buddy at work and didnt pay a cent for them, so Im not out anything if I have to replace it but if I put it on the car, will it sound like ****? If the debris rattles when I shake it, I can just imagine what it will sound like when I give er.
The only cost I will have is the $100 to install, but Im out nothing with the mufflers. Any suggestions?
 


Im just going to go ahead and say this before everyone else does....Most people on this site says a grand prix sounds like crap with a exhaust on it...Now..with that said..Yes I have heard ALOT of them that are raspy and don't sound that great. I have a 07 and I have the magnaflow exhaust system on mine and it sounds VERY good! It has a nice tone to it I love the sound of it! As far as the rattle goes im pretty sure you would hear it with them on. Hope this helps and like I said...be ready to be told your car will sound like crap!

My next question is, be it that everyone on this site owns, has owned or will own a grand prix. Has, will or havent made mistakes, IS IT WORTH IT? If it is going to sound like ****, ill just pass them along and save the $100. I guess I do it best out of style. If I get more "****ty" then "nice" guess what I am not doing......

slow M90, so why would aftermarket mufflers sound like **** on a 04 but a megaflow sound good on a 07?
What did you do?
 
Well Ill leave it till the morning and Ill let you guys tell me it will sound like crap, but I think I have my answer!
Ill spend the $100 on a performance part or something actual needed.
Thanks for the opinions, I could of drove it out of the lot and drove right back in and told him to take them off. You guys saved me $100 and 2 hours worth of bull****
 


i wouldnt put those on a gp, they are rice burner fartcan mufflers. mufflers u c all these kids and their 4 cylinders hondas.
 
fart cans sound pretty good on our cars, unfortunately. i dont like aftermarket mufflers though since our car sounds like crap in general.
 
its not that itll sound bad, its just the look of those mufflers on a gp, ive seen it done b4 and i think it looks like crap, but maybe thats just me. of course its not my car so i cant decide for him.
 
How about this...sell those things...because foldgers cans might sound good on a 3800 they look like RICE. I'd keep your stock resonator, get either a high flow cat or delete it...then buy mufflers of your choice. Remember...this is a family sedan, not a Si.
 


Also not all exhausts sound bad on these cars. You just have to know how to do it right. I've heard some sound like **** and be raspy, because they didn't do it right. You just have to be careful with these exhausts cuz they'll rasp easily. I love my exhaust, I think it sounds good, no rasp whatsoever.
 
fart cans on a fast gp is sleeper stats. There is a local guy with a turbo'd one, single fart can, Pontiac thing on rear bumper is cut-out, the car is fast as ****, and it sounds good, actually sounds more like a GNX. My balls got wet, when I was behind him, he was merging into traffic on a highway, and spun all through 2nd, front end pointing towards the curb, smoke everywhere.

Thats sick, I've never heard one on a GP before, I've only heard them on v4 rice.

VR4's ain't rice that's for sure...maybe just a SL...
