mp112 on a L32

anyone ever done it? been searching for little bit and can't seem to much. Entire set-up is forsale and was looking at going with that kit rather then intercooling my Gen V and 3.0 pulley. The mp112 is also intercooled and is just a bit more expensive then the intercooler and pulley setup for the gen v would cost.

I will have to make some stuff and find a few extra peices for the kit but for the most part its all there. I dont plan on doing a cam swap in the car, the car will also be getting, SD headers, 1.9 RR, HP tuners, 42.5#, and custom CAI to make it fit. I posted a thread concering the power capabilities on a stock cam and it seemed that even though the cam was a big holdback that the m90 was also a cause.

So i guess would it be worth the swap of a IC gen v with a 3.0 for an IC mp112 with a 3.5?

thanks

It has been done a couple times. The big problem from what I understand is getting all the extra pieces fabbed...throttle body adapter, LIM adapter, and some other stuff. Also, the MP112 requires a lot of flow so expect to dump some cash into a big lopey cam, extremely ported heads, big primary TOG's headers, and exhaust. Not to mention a trans that is going to cost a small fortune in itself to deal with all that torque. By the time you get that kind of money into the engine, you would've been better off going turbo...more power for the money. But if you're hell bent on doing it, good luck. :)

eh i am not really set on doing it, it ws more for an idea since the price seemed close to the price that i will be into the gen v set-up for. I am not really wanting to do a cam swap and this car will still be driven almost everyday. i have no problem with fab work so the TB adapter is no biggie and the kit comes with the LIM adapter. I am not looking at doing mush more to it then the mods listed in the first post. I know that i will have to build a trans either direction i go so thats not to big of an issue. Would the mp112 make more power then the gen v on the same setup with the only difference being the blower?

Honestly, I'm not sure on that and I'm not sure if there's any data to back it up. The MP112 is going to take more power to turn it, but it is going to cram in more air...and more air plus more fuel = more power. So, it might, but I don't think it would be substantial if at all. There has been a guy who did a TVS and that is supposed to be much more efficient than even the Gen V or MP112. Again, I have never seen his claims in person, but my understanding is the car did very well.

the kit is $1500, would only need a few items so figure around 1800 total running. the kit is the one come off Miko's twincharged car over on 3800pro. and intercooler kit for the gen v will be 1200. what am i going to be into the average turbo kit? 2000-2500?

But without the flow mods, your not going to be making as much power as your looking to get.

To get this full setup with all flow mods you will be over the amount for a typical turbo kit by then.

But hell, if you really wanna do this, i say go for it. I would be in to see the outcome.

the m112 is intercooled already and i can pull the heads off and do a basic port/polish and a bowl blend while its all apart, heads are easy to do on these cars so i have no problem doing that. the car has SD headers and a full 3 in exhaust already. the cam will be stock and that is the biggest thing i was questioning.

The intercooler is your adapter plate which will have to be made. Unless you buy a used one.

Either way, this is a lot of effort and money for very little gain.

If your going with the MP112 set up, do it right and buy yourself a cam.

A big cam.

Cause your going to need to get alot of flow with this blower. Whatever comes in must come out.

Since it will be moving more air than the M90 your going to need more flow than a standard M90 build.

The MXXX designation on the blowers means how many cubic inches of air they move per revolution. Gen V M90 = 90 ci, MP112 I believe the MP is the same and that would mean 112 ci of air per revolution of the blower. I'd suggest having some serious flow as well.

Here's one I put together for a local to give you some ideas of the various pieces/parts. Password is Boosted
