Motor Oil Leak!

Oil filter housing would be the name. Havent had any problems with mine leaking but here is a link to the gasket you would need if it ended up being the problem

ZZ Performance

FYI, the 3.1, 3.4, 3.8 engines take the same oil filter. AC Delco number PF47

Get some brake cleaner up in there, and clean it up really good, drive it for a day and see where the fresh oil is coming from. Diagnosing a leak on a greasy engine is a freaking nightmare.

What he said^

This might help you some, but this is for a supercharged 3800.

Just imagine the belt routing there for the supercharger not being there, and poof, you have a NA 3800.

If your sure its OIL like engine oil, then that narrows it down to that area. Could be a leaking oil filter, filter housing elbow, a leaky oil pan gasket, a leaky front cover gasket, or front crank seal, or even a crushed front engine mount since they are fluid filled. Or even a messy oil change that got every where and nobody cleaned it up well. or to add to that, they changed the filter, and the old o-ring stayed behind on the aluminum filter elbow and the new filter was screwed on...so as they said before, doubled gasket-ed.

But if its on your CV shaft...then it could also be your power steering pump or lines leaking and then as it drips on the CV shaft it gets thrown every where. The color of clean power steering oil is clear, but used up or dirty oil is tan to brown, and waaaay used up is black.

If these help you or not...I just replaced the GF's leaky power steering pump on here car not to long ago.

Local car wash sprayer does wonders as well. :th_thumb-up:

Just have to be careful where you aim of course under the hood.

thanks

i have no clue if it or aint i just know that thats the prob .... hehehehehehe ?
sorry
but is there somethin i should look for?

Not at all saying it can't happen but I have personally never seen a sensor break like that. When the oil is dripping see if it is comming out of the actual sensor or if it is comming out of where the sensor screws into at.

You say or you know? Make sure the fitting is tight also. Take it out unplug the connector clean it , inspect it and reasemble

only way thats possible if i get it on a jack nd take it off da ramp to remove the tire. hm ok ill try it in the mornin. the oil wont get out or nothin though??

dammm there go's my drive way o well i guess there has to be sacrifices.
