mothers clay bar+meguairs= money

yes by hand and i used the rubbing compound because i had some bad swirls....i had a **** polishing compound and an orbital buffer i used on the hood and the by hand rubbing compound seemed to make a better result i dont know why

what kind of orbital buffer were you using? i have a porter cable with meguiars m205 cutting polish and that removes swirl marks great. GM clear coats are super hard so you have to use something high speed, with heavy pressure, with a polish that has a slight cut to it. doing it by hand is no where near as effective as using a porter cable dual action buffer :th_winking:

haha

they arent too bad. i got one from properautocare.com for like $100.

Clue* go online and type in "properautocare discount code" or something like that. I can't tell you how much money i save by searching around coupon sites where people leak coupon codes for 15% off or free shipping :th_laugh-lol2: i actually just saved $20 at a hotel by makin resevervations online with a corporate code i found

Yea i search for codes online but half the time i forget damnit

I figure im gonna start flipping cars ill need a good polisher

neighborhood looks pretty damn close to mine, lol. diggen the look verrrry niiiice shiiiiine.

def like the black side mirrors too. how'd you go about doing that?

maybe they are black grand prix mirrors he bought, or maybe they are the black plastic grand am mirrors... I think those are the same style as the grand prix?

Looks pretty good. I love doing clay bar and then the meguires 3 step polish/wax. Takes a long time, but well worth it.

sanded em and hit them with the same duplicolor black thats on my front and rear fascias....:th_thumbsup-wink:

i was contemplating doing mine black too.. since the car is going dark green tho they dont stand out as much..

im also contemplating sanding my SE trim and losing the "chrome" and painting that the front fascia/accent colour

yea clay bar is great...its really not that difficult of a job it ur focused you can do your car in an hour...my car needs a good buffing at this point to get some of the small scracthes and swirl marks out. As far as cleaners go, i like the mequires deep chrystal paint clean cleaner and then my polish of choice is nufinish. i swear by that stuff...and i being a polish i find it leaves a much better shine than a wax or some other products..sometimes they leave resdue built up.

^^^

so, you dont use a wax or sealant?

and polish should always leave a shine. wax usually shines it up more, but more so, it leaves the car wet looking and protected. use a better wax next time and you will notice a difference.

nufinish is suposed to be a once a year type deal but to do it right you apply once then apply again in a month and your good to go Ive used it before works alright not sure how well it works as a protectant

nu finish isnt a protectant......it is a polish that removes oxidation and swirl marks. I usually categorize it with rubbing compound because it is usually for more major paint correction. If you've been using that, switch to a more professional polish next time. They are more pricey, but they work and look great. Meguiars m105 and m205 are the polishes i use, along with some well known detailers on the grand prix forums. And, i will be no longer using wax. I have heard that wax clogs up the pores in the clear coat, causing it to get brittle and crack/break/etc. the sealants like blackfire wet diamond look 10x better than waxes anyways. the paint looks dripping wet after

never heard of it

theres so many products out there its overwhelming lol just gotta do some research and buy whatever you think looks best or works for you

yea Ive used zaino products and love them but dont love the price
ANd have never had issue with meguiers products it pretty much all i have in my detail cabnet

with a Black GTP

i claybared mine the 9th

Took off road tar (WOOT!)

then i used the Turtlewax back to black kit. (extremely long and annoying)

But finished product totally worth it!

yea blacks one of those colors looks sexy as hell clean but dirty or swirl marked no way silver hides some imperfections pretty well
