Monsoon is a Joke

Okay. So I'm pretty pissed off right now. My 04 Gtp had the same monsoon garbage in it as this 04 Comp G. The only difference is that I believe the previous owner bought the cheap harness for my GTP which wasn't bad.

I have the Gmos-04 or whatever it is in the Comp G. Now the problem is that I have two 10" subs powered by a 2400 watt amp and before with the cheaper harness, my speakers could keep up to the bass. Now with this "good harness" it's like I can't throw any bass because the speakers are so quiet... WTF?

PS
I have the same system that was in my old GTP that is now in the Comp G. Nothing is different and I haven't set any settings different.

I'm running:
Kenwood DNX690
Alpine MRX-240
(2)10" Alpine Type R's
Ported box

Did you adjust the output level on the GMOS-04?

You're running the same amp and speakers you had in your old vehicle, you just aren't asking them for the power you once were.

Chime Volume Adjustment
1) With car on, shut off car and leave keys in ignition. Open the car door and leave it open.
Chimes will be heard.
2) Wait 10 seconds, then with a small screwdriver adjust the potentiometer fully counterclockwise (all the way left), then clockwise to raise chime level and counterclockwise to lower the chime level.
3) When the volume is at the desired level, remove the keys from the ignition. This will lock the chime volume at its current level.

Audio Level Adjustment
1) Start your vehicle and turn on the radio having audio playing.
2) Turn your aftermarket radio’s volume up ¾ of the way.
3) With a small screwdriver adjust the potentiometer clockwise to raise the audio level and counterclockwise to lower the audio level.
4) Once at desired level your audio adjustment is complete.

OnStar Level Adjustment
To adjust the OnStar “volume up” or “volume down” on the steering wheel. If steering wheel controls are not present find the Black/Yellow wire on the 16-pin harness. Push the blue OnStar button, while the voice is speaking, tap the Black/Yellow wire to the ground. Once volume is set it will stay at the volume until the Black/Yellow wire is tapped to ground again. This can be set during installation and then left alone.

It's for the chime, if the door is open and the chimes are on. If the doors are closed and the engine is running, it'll adjust the output volume.

Perfect. That's probably the issue. Are you running the monsoon amp aswell? or did you rewire your car for a 4 channel?

I'm currently using a "Normal" harness through a Monsoon amp. I have a Kicker 5 Channel amp kicking around that I plan to install eventually, but it's really low on the priority list.

Fyi even when you turn up volume in the little box on the harness the monsoon speakers only sound good with the monsoon hu and amp. Your best off rewire new speakers in the front and the rear.

I might keep the colours.. makes it look unique lol ;)

Getting rid of the Monsoon for me was a great decision.. I started off just wanting subs and leaving the stock HU in it and leaving it at that and didn't want to spend the money upgrading anything but that changed after a while. Once you do away with the stock HU the stock speakers start to sound like crap.

I know what you mean. I really wanna throw some Polk Audio marine speakers in. The high end ones. I've been told they are ****ing nasty when it comes to treble. I might do it cause my buddy gives me 50% or more off of anything at the store. I probably paid 1,600 for my set up right now. I'm driving my old ladies Elantra and I think I owe her some subs so I'll be tweaking around with her little **** box before I add a 4-channel.

What did you have to do to eliminate the monsoon amp? Cause your power comes from that amp as well right?

I juuuust ****ing blew my subs 30 minutes ago. Second pair of the new type r's. You can't drive a car without it sounding good man lol.
