• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

So i live in Minnesota and have recently purchased a 3.4 pulley, PLOG, 104s, 180 stat, 3 inch DP, K&N cai.

the cai is installed, but i am waiting for the roads to clear n warmer weather to do the rest, i plan on doing full exhaust and going catless, then getting tuned at my work.

Here is my real question, the car is a 98 GTP with just over 100k, i am the 2nd owner to a middle aged lady and im pretty sure the car has been driven nice, with the above mentioned mods, is my stock tranny going to hold up?

I work at a GM dealership and the "tranny guy" said he would install a shift kit for me for a pretty reasonable price, if i do this such as an intense kit, would i be able to safely do more modding? such as rockers, maybe cam?

If that all sounded really dumb, please dont castrate me, just correct me kindly.
thanks

Installing a shift kit would be a very good idea on your car and Intense is one of the most complete kits out there and is one I recommend using. Because of the mileage you are hit and mis on how long it will live but there are plenty of them out there with a lot of miles and still ticking...... some of them ticked and went boom a lot of miles prior lol but that is the risk you take when adding more power to a stock trans.

Okay thanks a lot Trannyman, what is a fair price for a tech to install a shift kit in the GTP? Would be a side cash job. About how long would it take an experienced tranny tech to do it?

you might as well do a service to while everything is apart. the whole job should only take about an hour and a half max, possibly less if he uses a rack and air tools
